I jumped high as our setter sets the ball into a b-quick. There were no blockers kaya nakapuntos ako sa atake ko. It is very hard to be a middle spiker, madali lang ma ba-block ang mga spikes mo kaya you must've find a way para hindi ka mahabol o mabasa ng mga blockers.
"Nice one, Madz!" it was our libero who tapped my head. She was so sweet to us. She's one of the oldest team we have. Tinuturing na namin siyang ate, reason why we respect her and always listen to her because we all know that she's matured inside and outside the court, and has a lot of experience since she graduated at the most prestigious school in Philippines and had been in uaap. She is my idol kaya taas noo ako sa kanya.
I smiled at her and gave her a tumbs up. It was our turn to serve and I was looking at other opponent's setter to read where will she be going to give the set. She puts her hand behind her and gesturing a plays.
The eagerness to block them, alerto sa kung saan man niya eseset ang bola. My teammate has served the ball and it went to the other side.
The ball sets into running attack kaya hinabol ko ang bola at nag block. It hits on the tip of my fingers and making the ball runs slow. Nakuha iyon ng kasama ko. Sumabay ako sa setter namin. She sets the ball into zero tempo and I hit the ball hard.
"Back to back attack from Jackson!" the mc announces as we celebrated the point. Only few people was there and some of them was our friend of us.
The game was so fun that even our bench players played as well. All of us contributed this game.
The game was too close but we still able to have the momentum and got the set.
"Mom!" Lumapit ako kay mommy matapos ang laro. Everyone was calling for my name but I am eager to get my mom's attention. I know that she was proud of me because this is our dream. To play here with the most famous and veteran players here in the Philippines. I came from Mindanao and graduated in one of most prestigious university in the Philippines. I played palarong pambansa and won the 2nd best middle blocker way back when I was high school. When I graduated high school, she decided to to leave the school and had focused on my career. She applied as an assistant coach in university where I enrolled and accepted her smoothly because of her experience as a player and a coach.
Volleyball has been our favourite sports ever since. She started to teach volleyball when I was grade one, hanggang sa umabot ako ng iba't ibang lugar noong mag grade 4 ako. I have the height because I'm half. But my parents didn't ended up together. Mom's workaholic.
"Mom!" I called once again reason why her attention diverted on me. She smiled as she gestured her hand on me.
"This is my daughter, Maria Daniela Zaina," she said to the old woman she was talking to.
I looked at the old woman and smiled. "You can call me Jera, hija." she said as we shaked our hand. "You're so tall, do you want to be part of the national team?" nagulat ako sa kanyang sinabi. Is this for real?
Her eyes screams which so much happiness that made my heart melt by seeing her happy while I was in happy. She dreamt it for me.
I mean who wouldn't want to be part of the national team and play against the foreign team.
"I would love to!" I said with happiness and excitement. I feel like I was dreaming! No, it can't be! This must be real!
