"I dare Charlie to kiss...Nick."

a bit of a spin on "season 2. episode 6: truth or dare"

Charlie had to admit, he was only slightly shaking.

It wasn't like Charlie Spring hadn't been invited to a birthday party before, he was away from home and intended to have the most fun while he had the chance to be with friends. That was inclusive to sneaking out of his hotel room with his friends to celebrate Tara Jones' birthday.

He told himself he wouldn't miss it for the world, especially when Tara asked him so nicely to come.

And it might have something to do with his very attractive friend and his terrifying convincing puppy dog eyes urging him to not jump into bed to sleep at the first opportunity after they're returned to the hotel room.

How could Charlie say no?

Charlie let his hands fall to his sides, his slim fingers once laced in this black curly strands of hair now pressing against his shorts as he stares at his reflection. His eyes dart to and fro every feature on his face, his scrunched nose and his lips that were pulled into a subconscious frown. They soon rested on the figure more obvious staring at him from on their position on the bed.

A smile soon appeared on his face as he turns to his...his best friend, his crush for as long as he could remember being happy.

"You ready to go?" Charlie asked gently as he approached the boy, and Nick Nelson simply grins up at him in reply.

From his position Nick was staring, his dark brown eyes trailing over Charlie's form like a love struck puppy - his eyes lingered on the other boys face, almost entranced at the tease of a dimple in his cheek and the cerulean ocean-bed of his eyes.

He gives a small noise of contentment as he raised his arms, his bigger form meaning that even when Charlie is few steps away his finger tips were still able to reach his side. His hands outstretch into Charlies offered ones, their palms connecting and grasping as if a key in a lock. It felt perfect.

To Charlie, it always felt perfect.

As Nick pulls himself up he barely relys on Charlie's strength, crashing into Charlie playfully and their laughter rings in the empty room like a harmony, them fumbling around to catch each other and avoid bumping heads.

Nick gives a small, "Mhm," after a moment of being comfortable in his arms, and Charlie can tell he isn't tired, he is just in his mood. The mood where everything is too good, and the world is too bright for words to be needed.

The mood when they're together and no one is forcing them to be distant, at least that's what it was like to Charlie.

They exit their shared hotel room with whispers, giggling like school boys as they started their short trek towards another hotel room - the blue lamplights illuminating their hair and shading them in a brighter and more vibrant hue.

In the new lighting Charlie stared, stares at the downturn of Nicks smile, the squint of his eyes, the curve of his nose. He stares as if he wouldn't be anywhere else in the world.

At a comment Nick makes he turns his face away to laugh, and Nicks eyes follow him. His eyes follow to point of Charlie's nose, the edge of his jawline, the base of his lips.

This was torture.

.

By the peak of the night everyone was seated in a circle, knees touching and laughter lingering in the air as everyone got comfortable with one another.
