Frostbitten

It all started in the cryogenic lab. There was an 'accident' with one of the cooling tanks that didn't have the panel sealed on. I was the victim. When I was climbing up to the maintenance level, I fell - ending up in the cooling tank. I could feel my veins swelling up, changing the colour of my blood to a frozen blue. The frost then traveled up my body and got its way into my heart; through my arteries. It turned my skin a pale blue like I had been frostbitten. I didn't understand why but I survived. I started kicking the glass in the tank, doing anything to try and get out. The glass then shattered into a million pieces on the floor. But the extraordinary thing was that I could breathe while in the tank. "How is this possible?" I thought to my self. I still had a lot of questions that I didn't know the answer to but this was just the beginning...

I collapsed to the floor, bending down on my hands and knees. My head was still processing what had just happened. It was like one of those nightmares, what your stuck inside of trying to wake up. You know the ones I mean, where you end up with sweat dripping all over your face. I stood up clutching my arm, to only notice that there was a rounded button like device attached to my upper biceps. The only thing was that it was like it had been surgically fitted. I checked the other arm, to only see the same thing. I trudged over to my desk, raking through all my stuff to see if there was a hand mirror. Eventually in the last drawer, I found a small, rusted makeup mirror. Dreading what I would see, I lifted the mirror up to my face. My jaw dropped.

I kept on tilting my face to see if the pale blue colour was just paint. It wasn't. It was my skin. As I moved further up my face i noticed my hair had transformed into frozen blue strands of ice. I looked closer at my pupils. As I was looking at them I noticed they changed colour from a dark blue to an fiery enraged red. I screamed, dropping the mirror, causing me to fall backwards onto the floor- landing on my back. The sound of the mirror's glass shattering on the floor, caused my ears to ring which went all the way to the back of my head. It was like a sonic sound wave that rings straight through you.

I picked myself back up from the floor. I couldn't go outside, especially looking like the this. I had to make my way to the locker room to pick up my hoodie. At least the hood would cover some of my face.
