Xander had been getting used to being a seven year old for about a week or so now... some of the things were fun ... others not so much.
He had fun playing with his brother and sister playing games and going to the park and movies or the beach.
The non fun things were a little annoying like a regular bedtime, eating his vegetables, his mom bathing him on a nightly basis and his having to wear goodnights while he slept....
But he dealt with it the best way he could.....
...
Then one morning, Xander was woken up by his mother and was informed that the family would be going shopping.
After breakfast was finished... Xander was getting dressed but then his mother came into the room with a goodnight in her hand...
Xander froze....
"But But mommy I don't need those during the day. I'm a big boy." He said. Still froze and too scared to move
" Sweetheart I know but you did wake up wet all this week and remember your accident at the park yesterday," she said as she sat down on his bed.
Xander started whimpering ... the only events of the previous day came rushing back to him...
The family were all at the park playing and having a picnic. It was when the kids were playing near the big slide that it happened...
Xander was being teased by some older kids because he was taking too long to go down the slide....
He became so scared that he wet himself and the stain appeared on his denim shorts.
The older kids were merciless with their taunts and teasing.
Xanders mother had seen the teasing that her son had endured and she sprang into action....
She was friends with the other boys moms and she went to them and informed them of what Xander had endured....
The mothers apologized for their son's actions and delivered discipline right in the park. The boys were spanked in front of Xander , his siblings, and several of the kids that they knew
Xander felt a little bit better but he was still upset about the accident and he broke down crying.
His mom dried his tears and carried him to the car. All the children were buckled into their car seats and a stop at McDonald's made the day better.
....
Xander complied with his mother and stepped into the goodnight as his mother pulled it up to his waist making sure it was secure.
Xander was able to get dressed the rest of the way on his own and the family headed out to the store.
....
While at the store.... The kids were having fun playing rock paper scissors while helping their mom shop for the weekly groceries.
Xander was especially helpful with bagging the fruits and vegetables.
....
Then at the checkout line...
An accident occurred...
Xander was standing in the line next to his siblings when Hailey and Henry saw the wet stain appearing on the front of Xanders shorts...
Hailey pulled on Xanders hand whispering "Xander."" As she pointed down
Xander looked down and he couldn't help it... the floodgates opened
He started balling his eyes out...
His mother alerted by her sons cries and Henry's hand tug told her the story...
" Oh sweetheart,, it's going to be ok. " she said as she finished paying for the groceries.
She picked up the crying child and pushed the car out of the store as his siblings followed.
....
Xander was starting to subside with his whimpering as his mother picked him up and opened the back of the car...
Xander then saw what was happening...
He saw a bag.. it was a diaper bag..
Xander was set on the mat that was on the floor of the car and his mom removed the soaked goodnight.
She pulled out some baby wipes and cleaned him up. She then grabbed a pull-up that was decorated with Paw Patrol on it.
Xander breathed a sigh of relief... at least it wasn't a diaper.
His mom applied some baby powder and slipped Xanders legs through the leg holes of the pull-up and stood him up and pulled the pull-up up to his waist. She dusted the excess powder off his legs and slipped a new pair of elastic shorts on him.
She carried Xander to his car seat and buckled him in...
He looked at his mother and said
" T Tank yous mommy."
She smiled and got in the car and headed towards home as all the emotions of the day caused Xander to fall asleep in his car seat before they exited the parking lot.
