THE DARK END

Sitting by my bedside, eyes filled with remorse
Staring back at me in silence
Seeking repentance from the heavens
A glimpse of the man I once knew
Taken aback to the time when everything was new

A battle between despair, want and need
Unable to see behind this superficial mask
How blinded can she be? One may ask
She is but a lonely soul, frightened by uncertainty
Struggling to keep her head above the water in this ice cold sea of denial

Back again in this familiar hell holding
For all the wrong reasons
Greeted with a proposal that margins every thought of flight
A beautiful ring that cuffs me against these cold walls
Nightmare disguised like a day dream or so it appears

Once again your fist does the talking
This lonely heart finally stops beating
A woeful fate indeed
No more tears left to cry
So this is where I say goodbye

Placed to lay beneath the grounds
An oblivious new toy you found
Another sad story waiting to be told
This love was supposed to be my peace
Rather I am laid to rest in peace
