Tatum Hill POV

Its been 3 days since I found the group and I am no closer to trusting them then I was 3 days ago. I don't trust people easily. Ive been doing my part in feeding the farm animals, gathering sticks for Daryl and helping Glenn scavenge in the woods, he knows a lot about plants and berries so we go looking for some fruits and seeds we can plant in the field. Thats my favourite part of the day, I liked scavenging.

"So kid, how you settling in?" Glenn asked me while we picked small blue berries off a bush and collecting them in a plastic bag. I shrugged my shoulders, most people were kind to me, like Glenn, Maggie, Lori and Rick, But then there was Shane and Greyson, who through I was a waste of space. "Fine" was all I replied, I liked Glenn, he was probably the only person I was actually considering trusting. "Thats good, you getting along with Carl and Greyson?"

I once again just shrugged, though I was getting along fine with Carl. "Carls nice" I responded to Glenn before moving over to a new bush. "Thats good, it's probably been awhile since you've had some friends" he smiled at me warmly. "Ive never had a friend before" I confessed to him without meeting his eyes, I already know they'd be filled with pity.

"You didn't have friends? Didn't you go to school?" Glenn questioned, he has now stopped picking blueberries, he was more focused on our conversation. "I was smarter than the other kids, being smart doesn't get you many friends I guess" I chuckled awkwardly trying to defuse the uncomfortableness I was feeling. "Well being smart is a good thing kid, you'll survive longer then most" I looked up and him and saw his hand coming towards me, I flinched.

Though Glenns intentions were most likely to pat me on the back, it was just instinct to flinch away, Glenn noticed this and put his hand back at his side. "Its getting late, we should head back. How about tomorrow you come on a real run with Maggie and I. You're pretty good at scavenging sticks and berries. You'll be good for runs" he told me, it didn't take me long to accept his offer. Id never got to go to a store with my parents before, they didn't want me picking out 'unnecessary things' or causing a scene, but now I don't think grabbing a few things for myself was selfish. Ive never really had my own things before.

"Okay great, we leave tomorrow early in the morning, Maggie will come wake you up, make sure you're well rested." He explained where we were going and what we were getting on the walk back to the house. Glenn also let me know the barn rule, and how us kids 'weren't allowed' in because they had business in there or something along that line.

Looking around while we walked back I realized I've never been in a place this nice. The farm was beautiful, the big white house was surrounded by a yellow field, there was an old barn, a chicken coup, and they also had a few horses. It was a great place, felt secure.

When we finally walked into the entrance of the house, Carl and Greyson were waiting for me. "Finally Tatum, you want to play hide and seek with us?" Carl questioned excitedly. Ive only ever played hide and seek once before with my brother and I loved it. As much as I wanted to play I was still heisted to agree. "Uh sure, as long as I'm not it first" I told the boy who smiled, "Don't worry, Greyson's it first, no outside the fence line. everywhere else on the property is fare game!" Carl yelled before grabbing my arm and running out the door while Greyson stood back and closed his eyes to start counting.
