The Curious Boy (1)

It was Saturday and Jack is still taking care of the garden where he planted many fruits and vegetables. "Ughhh, I hate it when this happens. Now, I have to work under the scorching sun and on the weekend,''Jack growled as he picked up the fruit from the plants. He tidied the fruits that had fallen from the plants. "Phew, finally finished, Ugh, I'm so tired of this. Going straight to sleep.'', said Jack, complaining. "Hoam, so tired'', sighed Jack.

The sun was still shining as brightly as Jack, a sixteen - year old boy, was just closing the door and went to bed. "Ughhh life's so boring,'' said Jack, laying his head on the bed. "I wish there was something more fun.'' BRAK BRAK BRAK BRAK ''h - help me. Open the door, please'' "eeehhh, that's kinda weird, no one has ever visited this house before, i wonder who is that?'' said Jack, rather confused.

Jack peeked through the door and saw a man covered in blood. Jack is startled and scared at the same time. He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself as his eyes were scanning the man from head to toe as he slowly opened the door with his hands, still shaking. He finally decided to open the door.

The man fell down just as Jack was opening the door. Although Jack was still stunned, he dragged the man into his house. "Uuggghhh so heavyyyy''mutter Jack. Jack waited patiently for that man to wake up. After a few long hours, the man finally woke up. He immediately pulled out the pocket knife that was always in his shoe. Jack was startled and told him that he didn't mean to hurt him. He is still cautious of Jack and stares at him, hardly. Jack just blankly looked back at him. "What's your name?'' asked Jack. The man breathed a sigh of relief.

"It's Benjamin'' answered the man. "A-and why are you covered in b-blood?'' asked Jack again. Benjamin just sighs and says : "Long story short, I was attacked'' Jack was again stunned. "A-attacked?'' he said. Benjamin continues to explain it all to Jack about how he was chased and attacked by some demons. Jack was startled and said :''So you were attacked by some demon who wanted to destroy the world? Mmhmm I really don't mean to be rude but that sounds like you made that story up.'' said Jack. "I'm serious. And we are humans with weak powers and we are searching for a human who is chosen to have strong powers to save the world.'' answered Benjamin. "But how do you and anyone know who has the power?'' asked Jack. Benjamin took out a kinda weird - looking ball. "With this'' answered Benjamin. "Woah, so cool, what's that?'' asked Jack, astonished. "It's a power detection ball. The one who has the power will gain a high score. I took it with me accidentally. Here, u want to try?'' said Benjamin. "Of course, I want to,'' answered Jack. Jack is a bit scared but is rather curious if the story, the ball, and all of what Benjamin said is real. After some time, he finally put his hand on the ball. Both him and Benjamin looked quite nervous.

After Jack touched the ball, they waited and waited and waited. Even though they waited for quite long, the ball still showed no reaction. "Yeah, of course. The chances are so low.'' said Benjamin, somehow a little dissapointed. "Mhm I still don't understand. How do you know who has the power by just putting your hand on the ball?'' asked Jack, still confused. "The ball will shine if the one who's holding it has the power of level eight or above. The minimum level of power is one, the maximum is ten.'' answered Benjamin.

"Ooohhhh, eeehhh what's this?'' said Jack, stunned.

The ball suddenly shined brightly and showed the number of zero. "MMHHMMMM is there a number zero?'' asked Jack. "I've never seen anything like this before. And I've never seen a ball shined this brightly.'' said Benjamin.

"Have you ever met a 'chosen one' before?" asked Jack.

"Of course, but she died because of a sickness. She is pretty strong, she got a nine. Even though she got a nine the ball still didn't shine this bright''

"So actually I got a zero and does it mean that I have no power at all?'' asked Jack. " I don't know, but the ball shined so I'm still not sure.'' said Benjamin. " But I've never felt anything before. I've never felt like I have some kind of power." said Jack. "Human beings in your world cannot activate their power in your world. Your powers can only be activated and used in our world. And actually I was just thinking how about you come with me to our world?'' said Benjamin. Jack sighed and said that Benjamin should just stay at his house for a night before going back to his world. At first, Benjamin refused and said that it was urgent. After some time and a bit of argument, he finally reluctantly agreed to stay the night there.

The next day, the sun rises as always and Jack wakes up with the sound of his alarm clock. Benjamin was not in his bed, but somehow Jack just knew where he was. "Hey Benjamin. What are you doing there?'' he said. Benjamin turned around to see Jack standing right at the kitchen door. Jack decided to make breakfast for both him and Benjamin. After breakfast, they were prepared and ready to go.

Benjamin looked at Jack and asked him if he was ready to go into his world. Jack, of course, seeing what a curious boy he is, just nodded, with a face full of excitement. Benjamin also nodded and let out a slight smile and said : "Let's go then''. Benjamin raises his hand and opens a weird - looking portal. Jack hesitated and glanced at Benjamin. Benjamin nodded and stepped in the portal, Jack followed. The moment he stepped in he was greeted by its beautiful view and he was very amazed. He smiled and with astonishment he said : "Woah, so beautiful.'' Benjamin let out a slight smile and said : " Yeah, it's beautiful.''

Jack slowly followed Benjamin into the portal that he created. It is indeed a very beautiful world. But behind that beautiful world there are a few places that hold destruction and creatures that can destroy this beautiful world. Jack is still in awe. "Alright, enough with the chit - chat, let's go.'' said Benjamin. "I'm sorry, but what exactly is our destination? And actually what are we gonna do after this? And even though I had the power, I don't know anythi-''

But before Jack had finished his question Benjamin said :''Please just stop asking questions and just follow me, besides we haven't even confirmed that you are the one who holds the power. After I explain everything to our leader, I'll explain the situation here to you and give you a tour around the city. Okay?''said Benjamin, looking a bit annoyed. "Sounds okay to me'' answered Jack.

Even though Jack and Benjamin walk staright to the leader's place, it still took time to get there and Jack still asks a lot of questions. The city really is beautiful and it looks so peaceful, but Jack had a feeling that behind that peacefulness there was something that had not been seen by him. On the walk there, Jack is so astonished by the bright sun, the beautiful sky and a river with water that looks so clear and also clean. There's people selling daily necessities, food, and other stuff. Jack realizes that this world looks similar to earth, but just with some magical vibe. Benjamin glanced at Jack who looked so happy and excited.

He sighed and started explaining to Jack that the demons are divided into stars and also divided into three levels : low, mid, and high. The low level is one star to thirty - three stars. The mid level is thirty - four stars to sixty - six stars. The high level is sixty - seven stars to ninety - nine stars. And the one who has one - hundred stars is the demon king. Jack is amazed but scared at the same time. Then he asked : "what about the humans?''. Benjamin answered :The humans just had little power and had to accept their fate. But there are still some cities that the demons have not attacked. And we just hope that you are the chosen one so maybe humans here might have some hope.

Jack is again, a little startled and also a bit scared. But behind those worries and fright, Jack is still excited and he actually also hopes that he is the one who got the power so that he will stay in that exciting world. After that, Jack still can't stop smiling and laughing, seeing things so magical and also beautiful makes his curiosity go up and up again. The city is really big and it really took quite a long time to get to the leader's place.

Jack had all the time to ask a bunch of questions and also looked at the beautiful and magical city. Some people are selling magical things and Jack can't help but stop and look at them. After stopping several times at some shop or stall , they had finally reached their destination, the leader's place. Benjamin looked up and said : "Alright we have arrived.'' After a quite long walk, Jack and Benjamin had finally reached their destination.
