마안해 사랑해
.Hanbin was standing at Eunbyeol's door. His fist hung in the air; knocking on her door required more courage than he thought he needed. He took a couple of big breaths before knocking.
"Come in." Eunbyeol's faint voice came from within the room.
Hanbin gently pushed open the door and finally met eyes with the girl he missed dearly. His heart broke at the sight of her frail little body. She had lost a lot of weight compared to when he last saw her.
"Can I come in?" He asked tentatively.
Eunbyeol's eyes widened when she saw it was Hanbin. Sadness seeped through almost immediately. She looked away without saying anything. Hanbin slowly walked towards her, but she stopped him from getting close.
"Don't come close. I don't want to make you sick."
It obviously didn't feel nice when she asked to maintain a distance between them, but at least he could assume she was worried about his well-being.
"I'm sorry, Byeol. I know I have been apologising a lot, yet I still keep hurting you. Can I please have one last chance? There's so much I want to tell you. The most important thing being - I love you." He confessed sincerely.
Eunbyeol looked up with her watery eyes.
"I love you, Byeol." Hanbin gazed deeply into her eyes and continued. "My feelings for you have gone far beyond best friends since a long time ago. This may sound ridiculous because who would hurt someone they love like I did? But when I saw you becoming close with Jiwoong, I got so jealous to the point where I lost my rationality and self-control. I blurted out words that left you confused and hurt. I behaved immaturely. And when I realised what I had done, I chose to push you away instead of making things right. In the end, all I did was torture both of us. Seolah is nothing more than a classmate to me. I never liked her. But I was an ass and used her to make you jealous, which gave her the wrong idea. What you saw that day was her trying to confess. I immediately apologised for misleading her and made things clear by telling her I had someone I liked. Byeol, you have no idea how much I missed you. Yet my goddamn ego stopped me from softening my stance. I once promised you that if I ever felt we were drifting apart, I would reach out to you first, just like I did in middle school, but I failed to keep my promise. I'm sorry. The past month has been a complete misery for me. I missed seeing you, talking to you, hugging you in my arms, and just being with you. Please tell me it's not too late to tell you how I feel."
Tears were dropping down Eunbyeol's face, and she eventually burst out crying. Hanbin could no longer stand watching her from a distance, so he immediately went up to her and hugged her. He had never seen Eunbyeol break down crying like this before. How could he break her heart like that when all he ever wanted was to make her happy?
"I'm sorry, Byeol. I can say sorry forever if you want me to."
Eunbyeol shook her head and hugged Hanbin back. "You're such a bad guy."
"Yes, I am. I'm sorry."
"Stop apologising now. Just promise me you won't ignore me ever again and that you won't keep everything to yourself."
"I promise."
"If you're mad, say that you're mad; if you're jealous, say that you're jealous; and if you love me, say that you love me."
"Byeol..." Hanbin pulled himself away without breaking the hug.
"I love you, Bin-ah."
"Say it again?" His heart was beating like crazy.
"I said I love you, Bin."
Hanbin caressed Eunbyeol's face and wiped away her tears, while he also got teary-eyed. They locked eyes with each other and broke into a smile.
"My soulmate and best friend, would I have the honour to call you my girlfriend too?"
Eunbyeol shyly nodded, and Hanbin could no longer hold back his tears.
"Don't cry. I'm not going anywhere." It was Eunbyeol's turn to cup Hanbin's face and wipe his tears away.
"These are tears of joy." Hanbin placed his hand on hers and gently rubbed his face against her palm.
Their gazes deepened, and Hanbin naturally leaned in. Just when his lips were inches from Eunbyeol's, she pulled herself away and smiled cheekily.
"*cough* I don't want to make you sick, Bin."
"Gunwook clearly said you were not contagious anymore." Hanbin raised his brows.
"Hahahaha, better safe than sorry."
"Since when have you become so cheeky, huh?" Hanbin pinched her cheeks lovingly.
Eunbyeol shrugged her shoulders.
"You're really.."
Without warning, Eunbyeol left a quick peck on Hanbin's left cheek. Before Hanbin could react, she landed her lips on his right cheek.
"Seolah gave you one; I'll give you a double."
Hanbin's body stiffened. He felt heat rising to his cheeks.
"We better go tell Gunwook we've made up. He must be worried." Eunbyeol tried to escape from the scene as reality hit her.
"You only care about your brother; then what about me?" He looked adoringly at Eunbyeol, who was already running out of her room at this point.
How cute was his girlfriend?
