A/N: This story is inspired by Olivia Rodrigo's new single, "Bad idea right?". Once I heard the song I was immediately hit with inspiration to write a story. I hope you enjoy.
Consumed in your own thoughts, you drain out your friends' laughter when your phone rings notifying you of a message. You look down onto your lap where the glow of the screen blinds you slightly, and you read the contact name, "Conan <3".
Your heart jumps slightly as you quickly turn off your phone and put it down beside you, attempting to hide the fact that you haven't changed your exs' contact name since...
"Y/n, you good?" your friend asks you. A moment of silence passes through the bathroom, the only thing being heard is the faint music coming from the party downstairs. She turns her head from the mirror, where she was just reapplying her lipstick.
"Earth to Y/n." your other friend waves a hand in front of your face.
"Oh yeah, hey sorry." you reply snapping back into reality, the thought of your ex drifting to the back of your mind.
"Your acting weird, Conan again?" your friend looks at you and sighs while you shake your head slightly, "Yeah right, like I believe you."
"Rude" you sigh, knowing deep down she's right. You haven't gotten over your breakup, it's been months, but you miss him. It makes you feel good knowing he feels the same way.
"Okay well, I'm going back down, anyone coming with?" your friend announces and as soon as you know it you're alone in the bathroom. They figured you needed some time to think. You sit up and walk towards the mirror, the desperation in your eyes are overwhelmingly apparent. You look into your eyes, trying to think of what not to do.
I shouldn't do it. I shouldn't go. I can't... fuck it, it's fine.
You break away from the mirror and rush out the door meeting a person staring awkwardly at you waiting to use the bathroom you were taking up.
"You good?" he asks, concernedly.
"Yeah! I'm great." you quickly flash a smile before hurriedly heading down the stairs, the music from downstairs getting louder. You immediately run into one of your friends from upstairs earlier.
"Hey Y/n, are you feeling better now?" she asks, smiling.
"Oh yeah doing great, just sleepy, I should probably head home." you say trying to sound tired knowing that they might suspect that you would be going anywhere other than... home.
"Oh... home? You want me to drive you?" she asks.
"No no don't worry I'll just take an uber." you say trying to stay calm but rush the small talk so that you could arrive... home sooner. Just as you were going to make your way to the door, almost sprinting, she grabs your hand.
"You're not going to Conan, are you?" she says, gripping your hand tighter.
"No- no way why would I-" you stutter.
"Y/n! No way you're going, that's a bad idea. Wait- is that who texted you earlier?" she rambles on.
"No- hold on, listen, I'm not going to him. Plus, he's just my friend, nothing else. I swear!" you hate lying to your friend but you had to do it, just this once.
She pauses and looks at you, furrowing her eyebrows, "Fine, go, I'll tell the others." she lets go of your hand slowly.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you." you mutter, looking over at the door and practically sprinting out of the house.
Once you're in the uber, you click on his message and tell the driver his new address.
God I can't believe I'm doing this.
Months without him have been torture, you couldn't sleep and didn't go out of your apartment that often. But your friends wanted to go to parties and they figured that that will get out of your funk but it clearly only made it worse. You hadn't realized how long you'd been staring out the window thinking for and quickly, you eyed the ubers' phone screen to see how long it'd be till you would have to face your own impulsive actions.
10 minutes... shit, okay he lives closer than I thought.
You look around for your purse and quickly unzip the bag, revealing your lipstick and some money. You quickly but carefully reapply your lipstick not really caring how it looked, it would get ruined in 10 minutes anyway. The rest of the drive you were restless, fixing your glittery skirt and changing out of your cropped blue sweater revealing just a white fitted tank top.
"Miss, we're here." the driver states knowingly. You hand him money and thank him as you climb out of the backseat of the warm car. You'd forgotten it had started raining, but you didn't care, all you cared about was him. Walking towards the front steps of the house you knock on the door rapidly and not even a minute later it opened revealing the sight of your smiling ex.
"Hi"
"Hey"
~time skip to morning~
You had woken up, in soft white sheets surrounding your body and a curly haired boy next to you, sleeping soundly. You smiled to yourself and turned to your left as you heard your phone buzz, probably one of your friends.
9:15am
"Hey, where were you last night? I just came to your place this morning and your roommate didn't even see you come back from the party?!"
10:36am
"Hi"
"Y/n! Where are you?"
"In his sheets?"
A/N: If you've made it this far, thank you so much for reading, I greatly appreciate it! I know this one shot doesn't have a lot of Conan in it but I just liked the idea too much to not publish it. Thanks again and please don't hesitate to comment, I'd love to chat with ya'll. Let's take a moment to thank miss Olivia for her masterpiece <3
