A Hunt to Remember (Luigi x Reader)

The Last Resort

(Y/n) was peacefully looking out the window while having her headphones in listening to her favorite song. You were sitting in the very back to the left of the bus. The ride was somewhat bumpy because they decided to let a toad, who can barely see over the steering wheel drive. (Y/n) wasn't fully sure why she was invited instead of someone they knew better like Daisy or something. According to Peach, she was invited because Mario's brother or 'Luigi' needed someone other than the two of them to talk to. Looking back into it, you didn't have many people to talk to either other than Peach and Mario. The Mushroom kingdom doesn't really have many people to talk to or just people in general.

Your thoughts were cut off as the driving toad turned to the right really hard making you fly over onto the ground in the middle of the isle. Soon enough the blue toad's ball ended up falling out of his hand and straight into your face. Luckily it didn't have enough force to hurt you, but it was still annoying. The ball then rolled under the seat your back was faced. As you tried to get up, you heard someone's snores up above get interrupted by dog licking? Curiosity killing you to look, you slowly lifted yourself upward, turned around and looked over the seat. You saw a green suitcase and a white dog licking someone else's face. Before you could try and scurry back to your seat, you heard an Italian shy voice call out to you.

"Hello?" They asked as you awkwardly stopped in your tracks. You slowly got up from next to the seat to address the situation. Before you could say anything, the white dog came up to you and started to lick your face making you giggle. The person then grabbed their dog in a quick manner bringing them toward them. You decided to look at his features. He had a Green hat with a white circle in the middle and a 'L' in them middle of it. He had brown hair that looked pretty short from what you could see. He also had a pretty stylish mustache. It looked like Mario's mustache but way more cleaned up. The outfit matched the hat he was wearing, green under shirt with dark blue overalls and dark brown boots. "Hi uh. . . who are you?" He asked as he looked almost scared of you? "Oh! I'm so sorry for bothering you! My name is (Y/n)! I'll head back to my seat since I caused so much trouble. . ."

He only looked in your direction like he wanted to say something but was afraid to. You turned around and started to head for your seat until you heard his voice again. "W-wait! You can stay. . it was only an accident. Besides, Toad's driving is terrible. I'm not surprised you fell out of your seat." You turned back around and sat in the empty seat next to the man's luggage. "So uh. . . what's your name? I did tell you mine. . " You said jokingly to start up a conversation. "Oh! Sorry! My name is Luigi." Oh so he was Luigi you thought. You two talked for about 5 to 10 minutes about random things like: 'How old are you?' or, 'Where did you come from' and, 'Who's the dog?' all that. You then glimpsed outside the window to see a huge tower looking building with a gold color all over it. The whole place screamed 'rich' with the fancy water fountain in the middle and the wonderfully green colored bushes and grass. You told Luigi to turn towards the window, and he did. He had the same amazed face as you until you looked down and noticed the dog or 'Polterpup' was right next to you and Luigi also looking outside the window. Toad then went through the gates and road around the circle barely scraping past the water fountain.

You got up and went to get your suitcase from under your seat. Once you grabbed your (F/c) suitcase, you put in your phone and headphones into it before closing it up and lifting it off the seat and into your hand. You turned around to see Luigi had grabbed his suitcase and was waiting for you to go through the isle. You walked out from your seat and through the isle to see Peach and Mario already getting off the van. You watched as the blue and yellow toad struggled to carry Peaches overly-packed suitcases. There were at least 12 of them in total. She made sure she was prepared for this. . . You then watched as the last toad got off the drivers seat and accidentally tumble down the stairs, but he was ok! He got up like a champ, just a little dizzy. You finally got off the bus and waited for Luigi to hop off as well to continue to talk to him. Once he got off, he was then circled by Polterpup making Luigi dizzy. You giggled at the two of them. You then turned back towards the hotel looking at it and all its beauty. Still lost for words, you heard Luigi say "Wowie-Zowie!" Making you laugh a little at this new found word he made up. You and Luigi continued to talk while walking towards the entrance of the building.

As Luigi opened the door letting you in first, your eyes were exploring the place before the rest of your brain could take in how wonderful the place looked. The only slight worry you had was that your face wasn't in the front like the rest were. In fact, it wasn't even there! Thinking back you do remember Peach told you that you were going as a unexpected guest. Guess you just forgot. You placed your luggage down and began to walk in Mario's direction. He was at the food station. Of course. . . "Oh hey (Y/n)! Luigi!" Mario exclaimed as grabbed a slice of cake about to eat it until Polterpup ate the cake off Mario's hand. "Silly dog!" Mario shouted in a playful tone. You laughed a bit while looking at the food, your stomach started to rumble. Guess the drive made you more hungry than you thought. . . "Hungry?" You heard from behind you. You turned around to see Luigi smiling down at you. (Or up- depends on your height-) You could only nod at his question as he went over to the table and grabbed your favorite fruit from the basket. You took the fruit gratefully and started to bite into it savoring every bite. You looked over at Luigi who also had the same fruit as you in his hand, eating it as well. "You like these too?" He asked you as you could only nod because of how much of it you had in your mouth. You and Luigi both then traveled to the left of the hotel to find a sitting area and presents laying around. You finished the fruit you were eating and threw it in one of the trash bins you saw. You walked over to one of the presents in the pile and opened it only to be jump scared by confetti making Luigi laugh pretty hard at your actions. "Hmph! It's not that funny!" You shouted at him with a annoyed but playful tone. "Yeah ok shortie." What!? This wasn't his normal soft, shy mood? Does this mean he was opening up to you? You thought. "Rude! I'm (Y/hei)!" You shouted at him as he was traveling to where the toads were struggling to keep Peach's luggage maintained.

You ended up catching up to Luigi while he was staring at the toads struggle with Peach's luggage. "Hey, do you guys need help?" You asked the toads as the red one turned to face you and Luigi. "Hey (Y/n) and Luigi! No, I don't think we nee-." *Crash* You all looked behind Toad to see the Luggage had fallen over and blue toad's head was stuck in the luggage. "You sure?" You asked one more time just incase he would need it. "No it's fine we got it!" He said as he started to attempt to pull blue toad out of the pill of luggage. You looked at Luigi and he only shrugged as he started to walk off the front desk of the hotel. Luigi hit the bell on the desk and a employee came to the desk with a very enthusiastic voice. "Welcome, guests, to The Last Resort! Are you ready to check in?" Luigi then nodded yes as the employee lifted his hand in an upward motion indicating to look upward. When you and Luigi looked in the direction the employee's hand was pointing to, you saw a good looking woman with pink-purple-ish skin, a white dress that changed the color to a darker blue mid way down the dress, sunglasses which you found a little strange but decided not to mind it, a dark blue fluffy shawl, and a huge updo with her dark blue hair that matched the shawl. 

"Guests! Welcome to The Last Resort!" She stated as she continued, "My name is Hellen Gravely, and I am the owner of this hotel. I am absolutely delighted that you decided to accept my invitation." She then walked over to the staircase and walked so gracefully it looked as if she was almost floating. She got down to the bottom of the stairs and continued to talk, "You all must be very tired. Come! Allow me to show you to your rooms, but who is this?" She asked pointing directly at you. You swallowed hard thinking of words to say. "I invited her to be my guest." Luigi stated as you looked at him confusingly but at the same time gratefully. She looked at Luigi almost like she was pissed, but continued on. "Fine then, she can stay but, she is going to have to share a room with you because we thought you, Peach, Mario and the Toad's were the only ones coming. So we only have 6 rooms available. Is that okay with you?" She asked looking as if she wanted Luigi to say no. "Yes that's fine." He said as Hellen looked like she was about to through a fit any minute now. "Sigh, very well then." She stated as her words were now slightly colder than before. "No need to worry about your luggage! Our exceptional staff will take care of it for you..." As she finished her sentence we turned to the right to see a employee was taking our luggage towards the elevator. She then came up to Luigi's face with a make-up blush applier, "Ha ha ha... You're our VIPs, after all! We've prepared a first-rate experience for you. All the trappings of luxury! Shall we get going?" She then finished applying her blush as she stepped away from Luigi making him sneeze. "Bless you!" You exclaimed giggling a little. "Thank you!" He said back as Hellen pointed towards the elevator. You and the gang including Polterpup, follow her towards the elevator as you all walk in a single filed line into the elevator. Being squished up next to Luigi made your cheeks flush a slight red color but you thought it was because of how warm it was in their even though deep down you knew exactly what it was.

 Praying for the elevator to open because being squished up to Luigi made your cheeks a darker red. You then heard the elevator ding noise and you were grateful. As the elevator door opened, you were the first one out. You were soon followed by Hellen Gravely, Polterpup, The toads, Mario, Peach and then Luigi. "Mario, Luigi, Peach's rooms are on the left. We've prepared rooms for the toads as well! I hope you enjoy your stay! I daresay you'll remember it for the rest of your lives! Ha ha ha..." You found that sentence a little off but decided to ignore it as you saw Peach, Mario and, Luigi going up ahead. Rushing towards Luigi's side, you saw Peach heading into her room. "Night Peach!" You say to her as everyone else starts to say goodnight to her as well. We then pass Mario's room as Mario opens his door he looks back at us and says 'Night-night' as Luigi says the same thing to him you stuck to the good old: 'goodnight'. Then it was you and Luigi's turn. Luigi opened the door allowing you to go first. You then walked in, followed by Luigi and decided to look around.

Luigi stayed in the main room while you went to check the bathroom. Nothing really special in the Bathroom. It was just a normal bathroom but just super clean. You walked out of the bathroom and saw Luigi setting up a little blanket bed on the floor then sat on top of it. You looked at him in confusion until you decided it was better to ask. "Luigi? What are you doing on the floor?" He looked up at you answering your question. "Well, I'm sleeping on the floor and you get the bed! A lady needs beauty sleep and the floor is definitely not going to give it to you." You could feel your cheeks heat up as you listened to the explanation. He was the complete opposite of self-centered. You shook your head telling him no as well as shaking all of the thoughts that you had. "It's fine Luigi! This is your room after all! You deserve the bed! You already did enough letting me stay in your room in the first place!" You exclaimed as Luigi's face began to look a little sad and guilty until his face lit up. "I got an Idea!" He shouted causing you to flinch back a bit in shock. "What is it?" You asked him as he looked at you with playful eyes. "We can both sleep on the floor like kids! It'll be fun!" He said as you laughed at the idea but it wasn't a bad one. "What? What's so funny?" He looked down like he was embarrassed until you lifted his head with your hand to face you. "It's a great idea! Let's do it!" His face then lit up again like he was a kid going into a candy shop. We then took at least 10 minutes to set up the blankets, pillows, food, and your phone for movies and shows to watch! You went into the bathroom to change into your pajamas that you brought while Luigi stayed in his regular attire. Once you got out of the bathroom, you both decided to watch (Your fav show or movie) got your favorite snack while Luigi grabbed his and Polterpup randomly phased through the floor making both you and Luigi laugh and you three started to watch.

You and Luigi both woke up in unison as the scream echoed through the hall. It was Peach's scream! You both got up, you going towards your clothes grabbing them to change while Luigi grabbed his flashlight to look around. You realized that the colors of the room were dark and gloomy. After you changed into your (F/c) hoodie with (A/c) jeans with (A/c) socks that reached up to your knees and your (A/c) (F/sb). You ended up finding a flashlight in the bathroom. You grabbed it and headed outside where Luigi was frozen on the ground from what looked like he got jump scared from the closet. You ran up to him and shook him waking him up from his frozen state. He looked at you as he grabbed your hand to lift him up. You both walk towards the door as Luigi opened it and looked outside. You then looked outside from under him as you both saw the golden color of the floor drain and turned into a dark gloomy color. You looked back to the left side of the hall to see that there was fog all over the floor. You and Luigi both swallowed hard in unison as you both got out of the room and started to search through the rooms.
 Mario's room: Nothing
Peach's room: Nothing
You both then heard the elevator noise and you went to investigate. Luigi pulling you back behind the corner to talk to you. "Are you crazy!? We have no idea who's behind that elevator!" He whisper shouted to you as you countered his statement. "It could be Mario, Peach and the toads or even the hotel owner! We have no idea until we check, right?" He thought for a second then looked back at you and nodded. You both then turned the corner as the door opened to see Hellen Gravely through it. You were relieved at first until you saw that she wasn't on the ground. . .

"Well well well! If it isnt my most esteemed VIP and his little pest of a girlfriend! I was just on my way to see you two. . ." What!? Pest!? Girlfriend!? You were scared but you were still a little red from her calling you Luigi's girlfriend. " Is your room living up to your expectations? Doesn't SCREAM good taste?" You and Luigi only stared at the women with scared yet confused looks on both of your faces. "Oh, I can barely contain myself. You have no idea how much I wanted you to accept my invitation! 'Why is that?' I'm sure you're wondering. Ha ha ha... You see...  There is someone I truly adore! He's the inspiration for some of my greatest ideas... Like inviting you here! I'm such a huge fan of his! That's why it's so wonderful that I get to introduce him to... YOU! That's right, Luigi! I hope your ready!" As she finished her long speech she waved her arms up revealing a cape under her arms just for her to remove them and out came. . .

King boo. . .

Luigi yelled as he hid behind you while you tried your best to not act as scared as your body was. Your body was shaking like crazy as you looked into his dark purple eyes with only a stare. "Mwah ha ha! Surprise, Luigi! And whoever your random girlfriend is! It's-a me, King boo!" The girlfriend thing again!? You thought as you felt your cheeks get hot again but you shook it off because now wasn't the time. "That old coot had me locked up tight in his lab..." He said as he did a little laugh to himself continuing where he left off, "But guess what, I GOT OUT! the hotel owner here was just dying to meet me, so she busted me out. Pretty lucky, huh? Anyway, I didn't think you'd actually show up here. I was ready though, just in case. In fact, my vengeance is nearly complete! What do I mean by 'Vengeance'? Glad you asked! I'm trapping you and everyone in your little vacation party...in frames! Awww, there there, Luigi. It'll all be over soon. It's time for a family reunion! BOO-YA!" Finishing his last sentence he used his crown and pulled out a bunch of frames with our friends and family in them! Then just as they appeared they then disappeared in some portal looking fog making Luigi come out from behind me to try and reach for the frames. "Mwah ha ha! take THAT!" King boo said as the Hotel owner took the invitation envelope and ripped it half throwing it behind her. "Oh, and there's one more frame, of course. I saved it for you but I guess putting you both in it isn't much of a problem just because I can make the frame bigger! Stay right there you two and put on your best terrified faces! This is game over!" He said as he made a frame appear from his crown making it big enough to fit us both in it. It soon started to glow circles as you grabbed onto Luigi's wrist and started to run. Luigi tripped over but you helped him up holding his hand as we started to run down the hallway.

You two continued to run as King boo was right behind you with the frame. As you both continued on, the doors on the side were disappearing straight from the wall like they were never there! You both continued to run forward as King boo used his togue to move things out of his way making them break in the process. You both unfortunately reached the end of the hallway and the only thing Infront of the both of you was a laundry shoot. You back at King boo, the laundry shoot, then Luigi and nodded to him as he nodded back. You both entered the Laundry shoot yelling all the way down into the dark tunnel.
