Chapter one.
Have you ever wondered if ideal children to parents exist? Well, she was one ideal daughter. She became the perfect daughter of an army family! But not just an ordinary strict army family; this specific family had a spicy secret.
Brrbrrr~ [Phone vibrating]
Jane slowly opened her eyes just to read the name of the caller. It was around 4 in the morning.
- Hi, jackass; why are you calling a girl too early in the morning? Don't you have manners? (Jane said. She sounded teasing.)
- Trouble just knocked on your door!
- What's the problem, Chris?
- See ya at the hideout place in 30 minutes.
- Copy.
She was used to these kinds of situations and sudden summons. As usual, she had to react as fast. All she grabbed was the car key, cell phone, and pistol! Rushing to the hideout.
Related to the instructions, she was not allowed to call her mates for more information, making her clueless about any possible accident.
It took her only 20 minutes to arrive. The place was pretty remote yet close to their family house.
No guard was around; she was calm until here. But seeing the place empty now, she started to get weird feelings.
Taking step by step, She took hold of her pistol, ready to fire.
Getting close to the building gate, she was gonna open the door when suddenly she heard footsteps from behind. It didn't take her long to aim the gun pointing the other party's forehead.
- Nice reflexes; chill, my girl!
- what play is this, Mister Christopher Bahng? (Jane asked, irritated.)
Chris shoved his eyebrows, pointing to the mini-cake in his hands.
- Happy birthday, my soldier! (He sounded excited.)
- where is everyone else? (Jane's fast reply dropped Chris's smile.)
- Is that all? I tried to make you happy! (At this point, Chris was disappointed.)
- Are you serious now? Five in the morning? (Jane was so happy at the bottom of her heart, but she didn't want him to get into trouble just because of her.)
- You know what kind of people we are; I can't throw a party for my only friend, and she apparently can't hang out with me because she's a general's daughter, and my father's the head of the mafia! The fact that they're partners in crime still is no help. (Chris explained, hoping to see some excitement in Jane's eyes.)
- where are the guards?
- Still not gonna thank me for my efforts to make you happy?
- The hideout shouldn't be insecure!
- I sent them home and told them I'll take care of the rest. (Here was when Chris started to feel guilty about everything he'd done.)
- on your own? Are you out of your mind? (Jane was strict but not stone-hearted. She took steps, passed the distance between the two, and hugged Chris while hiding her face in his chest.)
- [I'm sorry, Chris, that's my life, it's always about fear.] (Jane said in her head.)
- I'm not on my own; you were gonna join me. (Chris smiled, lowered his head and used his left hand to caress Jane's back.)
- Let's go inside and taste your birthday cake, sunshine.
- I want to thank you for always spoiling me even though I'm this cold. (Jane said those to feel better. And took the cake after letting go of Chris.)
Chris followed behind Jane, and they both entered the warehouse together.
The hideout was vacant. It was just a safe place for the members to gather.
They walked toward the only window and sat on the ground under the dim light.
- Do you know what's one good thing about this place? (Jane asked.)
- You think I don't know you well? You'll go with trees. (Chris answered confidently.)
- Not just every tree. But those ones on the other side of this window. (Jane locked her eyes on the trees while Chris was looking at her listening to whatever she was gonna say; btw there was nothing but silence. Therefore Chris tried to break the silence with a simple excuse.)
- Cake?
- Oh! Sure.[End of chapter one.]
Writer's speaking: It's just the beginning of a story I had on my mind for so long. My name's Jane; it sounds weird, but I used my name for one of the main characters. It's my first work, so this would help me become one with the main character and experience whatever happens in the story, so I can describe the feelings better. English is not my first language. Therefore, please leave a comment if there is anything wrong with my story, like the wrong choice of words, idioms, etc.
Hope you all enjoy it.
