A follow up / Part 2 of the last chapter

So, we had the talk, and it went for a while. We comforted each other when it came to any worries, made sure we were stable enough financially and mentally, and both were certain we were ready. It wouldn't be an easy job but we were there for each other.

A few months later we adopted a beautiful little girl. We decided to name her Navy.

As annoying as it was sometimes, we ended up finding the happiness in taking turns dragging ourselves out of bed in the early hours of the morning to attend to the crying child, cleaning up many..many messes and we ended up never taking nap time for granted again

Time skip 2 years: (yes im lazy)

And here we are. At target, i'm busy shopping when I hear a ruckus approaching from behind me. I turn around and see our 2 year old, Navy, on the broad shoulders of my girlfriend, Rhea. To my surprise they are both holding stuffed toys and laughing so cutely. "Ask Mama baby. If Mommy asks she'll say no!" Rhea giggles talking to Navy "Mama can we get these?" the little girl asks me excitedly showing me her soft toy. I look at Rhea and roll my eyes with a smile "Yes little one, you can have it" I tell her "Does that include mine?" Rhea asks with puppy dog eyes and a pout "Yes Rhe Rhe. Yours too." I say "Yay!" she says with a childish smile.

we continue to the check out and I pay for our stuff then we head home. Rhea is driving while i'm in the passenger seat and Navy is buckled in the back. Rhea is playing some music while i'm trying to work out how she managed to teach our 2 year old majority of the words to this heavy metal song... all that aside, Navy begged us for ice cream as we drove past McDonald's so Rhea pulled in and we all got ice cream cones...Navy got majority of it all over her face but she's cute so its okay. Rhea took the opportunity to take some ice-cream and boop in on Navy's nose and took a picture

Once we got home I put Navy down for a quick nap because she was exhausted and I started cooking dinner. As I was chopping the vegetables Rhea comes up behind me and wraps her arms around me. She nuzzled her head in my neck, "love you" she mumbled and oooohhhh girl when I tell you she still gives me butterflies "Love you too" I reply with a smile. "How can I help" she mumbles again, hair still a little messy from the quick nap she took herself. "Could you get some plates out please?" I ask her and she does. Rhea pulls out 8 plates - yes, did I mention we were having guests over? Harvey, Monica and there 3 kids will be having dinner at our place, like we've been doing occasionally.

***timeskip to dinner*** 

I hear a knock at the door as I'm plating up the food "I'll get it" Rhea says going to the door. Everyone comes in and we share greeting. "Navy!" I call our daughter from her playroom, she runs out and greets Harvey and Monica. Harvey picks her up "How ya been kiddo?" he asks her "Goooooood" Nav says with a smile "Been good at daycare?" Monica asks her "yeah!" Navy replies again. Harvey puts her down "Mama can I show them my stuffy?" Navy asks jumping up and down "Yes little one" I say with a laugh, she runs and gets it. She comes back out and shows them and they all act very impressed "Mommy got one two" She tells them "I did, didn't I. We're matching huh?" Rhea says tickling Navy earning a cute giggle.

***After dinner***

We sat in the lounge and watch TV for a while. As everyone else got up to leave Rhea found herself stuck on the couch. Navy was sound asleep on her chest and as to not wake her everyone said their goodbyes to Rhea and then headed to the front door. I finished saying goodbye, insisting they take the leftovers and then headed back to the lounge. I placed a small kiss on Rhea's forehead and cuddled up beside her "I like this" Rhea said with a grin. 

I sigh "It really does get better".
