Chapter four

Santana thought back to the last couple of weeks. How Quinn never wears short skirts anymore. How she's been wearing knee-length dresses. How for gym class she would always change in a stall and not in front of anyone.

Oh my god, Santana thought. That must be why she's acting so weird. It isn't just the depression.

The next morning Santana wakes up first and gets out of bed and moves to the desk, watching Quinn sleep.

It was half an hour later when Quinn started to stir. Quinn started to rub her eyes and sat up in the bed when she saw Santana sitting at the desk.

"We need to talk Quinn," Santana told her, not wanting to dance around talking to her.

"About what? I just woke up, Santana." Quinn told her, running a hand through her tangled hair.

"Why do you seem to only wear knee-length dresses and not short ones anymore."

"Did you hit your head or something?" Quinn chuckled. "I've always worn knee-length dresses," Quinn told her, getting out of bed.

"Not before you got pregnant, Quinn."

"It's not like I love having to wear knee-length dressed but until I lose all the weight that I gained, I'm going with knee-length."

Santana kicks herself. She should've known better than to jump to such an extreme conclusion. "I'm sorry, Q. I was just worried. I am worried about you. What's been going through your mind lately?"

Quinn sighs. "You messaged Mercedes last night, I'm guessing you talked about me and also brought up how I've been acting different since Beth, right?" She watches Santana nod. "I'm fine, S."

"That's not what you told me yesterday." She hears Quinn sigh again, "Quinn, you admitted to being depressed. Is this all about Beth or does it also have to do with you saying you feel alone?"

"Both, I guess," Quinn admitted, knowing it'd be pointless to lie to Santana. "San, I don't know what to do anymore. My mom let me come home but she doesn't exactly pay much attention, it's like she doesn't really care for me. Just doesn't want to be alone."

"Q, that isn't good. You deserve better." Santana walked over to the bed and saw next to her.

Quinn nodded, "I just, It's been so difficult and not being able to do much for Glee and totally cut off from cheerleading, being labelled a slut, It's just, it's so hard." Quinn looked down, eyes tearing up. "San, I don't know what to do anymore," Quinn admitted, a tear falling from one of her eyes.

Santana pulled Quinn into a side hug. "Listen, Mercedes texted me last night and was going to message me a few hours later to talk to you but I guess we all ended up falling asleep before we could."

"Where are you going with this?" Quinn asked, wiping her cheek.

"Curious as to if you want company from her?"

Quinn was looking down when she shook her head. "I don't want anyone else to see me like this. I mean, I know Mercedes saw me in the delivery room and how devastated I was after they took Beth away, but I don't really want any company right now."

"I'll text and let her know," Santana told Quinn, getting up and walking to the bedside table, picking up her phone and texting Mercedes. "I'm hungry, do you want to eat?" Santana watched Quinn shake her head.

"Is it okay if I get some more sleep? Haven't been sleeping well lately." Quinn asked, standing up and trying not to fall over while she yawned.

"Of course, don't be shocked if I jump on the bed in a couple of hours though," Santana warned. Quinn giggled and moved to the top of the bed and got under the covers. Almost as soon as Quinn's head hit the pillow she was out like a light. Santana stayed in the room for a few more minutes, making sure Quinn was asleep before going downstairs and getting some food.

When she got to the kitchen she saw her mom and dad, sitting at the table and drinking coffee. She said 'Good morning' and walked to get some toast and make a smoothie for when Quinn woke up. Santana finished the toast, standing up in the kitchen, leaning against the island.

"San," her mother called. "Any plans for today?"

Santana finished chewing before walking over to the table. "Quinn came home with me after Glee yesterday so I don't know. I'll ask but I think she'll be too tired to do anything, other than doing her homework to keep her GPA up." Santana jokes.

Her mother nods and gives her a kiss on the forehead when she gets up from the table. "Is she okay?"

Santana looks down, sighs and then answers, "No. I don't think she is." She looks up, "Since she had Beth things have been off with her. She's been different. Wearing longer dresses. I originally thought it was depression and while she is,"

"You thought she was hurting herself, didn't you?" her father asked, putting his coffee cup in the sink.

Santana nods. "She said she wants to lose all the pregnancy weight before showing off her legs."

"Understandable," Maribel replied. "We have to get to work so we're leaving now. Let us know if you or Quinn need anything." Santana nods and watches her parents pack up and go.

Santana sits down on a chair at the table and sighs. This is going to be one hell of a day.
