It was a warm morning so I decided to do a little re-decorating before Isabelle got up. I had gotten a lot of furniture as house warming gifts from my neighbors and I thought it'd be nice to change up home. Although, I've just found a fault in a one room house. There's so many beautiful furnature sets and only one room, and it'd look awful to have multiple sets in one room. I'm thinking about a sweets theme, I love Gracie Grace styles, and the sweets set has been my favorite since I was little. I mean, what better for Cocoa town than a home decorated with candy and ice cream? I examined the letter again, giving up for the moment on home decor. Even now I was contemplating that maybe my pen pal perhaps wrote me in another language, not knowing I only spoke English. I looked up at the clock, 5:59. That can't be right, that's way to early for-
Did my front door just open? I turned to look and sure enough just as the the clock hit 6AM my door just opened all on its own.
"Weird, " I mumbled to myself as I got up to close the entrance. As I closed my door I suddenly felt a dark presence right behind me.
"You're furnature doesn't match at all are you even trying?" A small voice hissed from behind me. I squealed and jumped, whipping around to see Lyle, the tiny otter from the happy home academy in my house.
"LYLE WHAT THE HECK!?! WHY ARE YOU IN MY HOUSE!?" I was scared, mostly confused as I stared at the small animal jotting notes on a clipboard as he stood in my home.
"HHA assessment. Bang. 6am. Everyday. No exceptions," he didn't even look up at me as he wrote, and I wondered if he did this while I slept most days.
"Isn't that illegal? It's breaking and entering."
"First. No police in this town, doll. Second. It's the job. It was in the contract you signed with nook. This is all legal. You agreed," he finally looked up at me after finishing his fragmented speech, "stuff in boxes. common walls and floor. Not much points. But. I guess all your stuff matches. That's worth some points. About 100. 100. Yeah. That's all," and he just left. I was left completely speechless. Maybe I should look over my contact again. Or get a dog. Can I do that? I mean in a town of animals is that considered slavery? I let my thoughts wander for a little longer until my main priority for the day entered my mind once again. I had to go see Isabelle. So, I finally decided to head to city hall. As I walked through the town, beautiful flowers speckled along the sides of the newly paved paths. My heels clicked on the stone as wandered through the beautiful town. The town hall was a beautiful beautiful building. I quietly entered as not to interrupt anything that may be going on, and walked over to Isabelle's desk where she was filling out some paperwork.
"Excuse me?" Isabelle suddenly looked up from her work and smiled.
"Oh hello Vanna, do you need something?"
"Yeah thanks, see I got this letter, but I can't read the hand writing. Could you help me?" I asked. The small doggy took the letter from my hand before speaking.
"I'd be happy to help. I've gotten quite good at reading sloppy hand writing. The mayor's forms are so illegible I thought they were in Greek the first time I read them!" She laughed slightly and opened the letter examining it's contents, "it's from Mott. I recognize his hand writing from when he tried to make a petition for a gym here . . ." She chuckled to herself recalling the memory, "Hey Vanna," she read, "we should really hang out more. How am I supposed to get to know my bro if she's always working. I know! Let's meet for coffee on the fourth at 8. From 'all muscles Mott'," Isabelle handed the letter back to me before continuing, "Oh! Miss Vanna, it's already 7:52. If you want to make it you have to hurry!" I looked over at Isabelle's little desk clock to see it was indeed almost 8. I quickly booked it out of the city hall with a quick thank you to Isabelle, before bolting across town and bursting through the cafe doors. Mott was at the counter, and he and Brewster were staring at me like I had a scorpion chasing me. I practically flopped onto the bench, panting as I tried to explain why I was so exhausted.
"Sorry . . . Late . . . Whole way . . Across town. . 5 minutes, " I let my self fall onto the counter, trying my hardest not to pass out.
"Bro you ran all the way from across town to here in 5 minutes? That's impressive; I can't even beat that!" He laughed as I slowly returned my breathing to normal, "why don't we get you a coffee? Coffee is amazing after a long jog." I ordered a coffee and we talked for a while. About all sorts of random things. Mostly sports though. Like 98% sports. I don't even play sports. Even so, I had fun getting to know my new neighbor better. And enjoying cocoa town's famous frozen mocha. We spent almost all day talking and by the time we were finished it was already dark. Too late for work. I couldn't help thinking. Definitely too late for shopping. I decided to just hit the hay early tonight. I shifted some boxes in front of the door, but I doubted it would help. Lyle will get in anyway. And very nervously and reluctantly I went to sleep.
