My head lightly hits the car seat as we roll on the bumpy road. I'm scared but excited to be somewhere else than at home. The only time I get out of the house is to go to school, go grocery shopping or to the ice cream truck when it comes on my street. We stop at a red light and beside us there's a beige van. A family of six sits in it. The children are full of energy, still they are behaving. Smiles are covering there faces. Happy yet so innocent. In a few years the little girls will realize that there is no perfect ending and the boys will realize that they should save themselves before trying to save the girl. Or the boy. Still, life hasn't hit them in the face yet.
The car slows down. We arrived and dad is parking the car. The building is new and has a quite modern look, like any other clinic in town. My hands are sweaty and they slip a little on the door while I'm pushing it open. An Asian woman sits at the counter and welcomes us with a big smile. A smile that's to big for her little round face.
-Hello! How are you?
-Great, thank you.
Dad answers for both of us and anyways I'm not feeling great.
-So... Are you Lauren, Lauren Hencksfree?
-Ya.
-Lovely! Doctor's waiting for you.
Another woman came and guided me to the room, which was really beautiful and spacious. The ceiling was higher than most places and the walls were painted in navy blue and many pictures of different places around the world were set on these walls. It felt cozy.-Hello there!
-Aahh! Hi, hi hello. Sorry I didn't see you.
He is quite young for a psychologist. Young, but handsome, really handsome.
-Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you.
This voice. It's him. The guy that answered the telephone when I called the clinic. He's way hotter than I thought. And then I just realized, how come he answered the phone for his own clinic when I called? It should of been that Asian woman with the big smile that answered.
-So, Lauren, sit down.
He used this really formal voice. I sat on the couch, which was surprisingly comfortable even though it had a modern look.
-How are you feeling, Lauren?
-Ehm... I just have a question.
-Yes?
-Are you really the psychologist?
At that moment the door opened and a man, dressed professionally walked in the room with some documents. He looked like he was in his forties and a little bit of grey was showing in his hair. He jumped when he saw the boy.
-Frederick! What the bloody hell are you doing here?
-Sorry dad. I just wanted to try it. I... I met your patient.
He grinned as he said it. He had deep blue eyes that sparkled when he smiled, some wavy brown hair and an extraordinary jawline. Definitely the boy that any girl could dream of.
It seemed that the situation amused the psychologist a little. If I was him, I'd be freaking out.
-Sorry, Lauren, is that it? He's my son and he had his day off so I invited him and it seems like he got bored a bit.
-Oh... It's really not a problem. I mean , it doesn't matter.
I think I blushed a little because they exchange eye contact and Frederick looked at me, with the cutest smile on his face.
-Now get out you!
-Ok, Ok. I'll get you some water, Lauren.
As he got out, he winked at me and it was beyond my control, I giggle a bit. My first laugh in such a long time.
