your mother said after a moment's hesitation "y/n. just y/n..." and with that she walked away never to come back.
the green-haired woman still holding your hand took you inside. everything in the hall drew immediate attention. everything was in pastel colors.
the woman hurried you through the hall and stopped you in front of a pitch-black door, contrasting with everything around.
"here we come..." she said gently and opened the door and let you in.
but this was not just one room, it was huge, with many different rooms and corridors in it. everything inside was in pastel colors, just like in the hall, and there were lots of kids walking around. the children were all dressed in pastel tones.
the woman picked up the small bell on a shelf by the door and rang it.
suddenly all the children in the room stopped moving and they all went to one end of the room at the same time and lined up in an orderly line.
the woman indicated that you should join the children. so you joined them.
"okay kids, you can welcome your new sister. her name is y/n."
however, all the children greeted you in chorus. the woman rang the bell again and the children all went back to doing what they were doing.
just as you were walking without knowing where to go, a girl a little taller than you grabbed your shoulder and stopped you.
"you have to be careful. we all smile here..." she said with trembling lips, but hesitated when another woman entered the room. "here's the newcomer... that's Miss Mayumi. she takes care of us. and the green-haired woman who brought you..." the girl paused, her face contorted in disgust. "Miss Kiyomi, don't you ever look at her. go to the dressing room and wait there" she pointed to a pink door on the right. "Miss Mayumi will come and take care of you.. don't forget to smile. don't talk unless they ask you to." the girl stared into your eyes for a moment before walking away.
the intense fear emanating from the girl seemed to have taken over you as well. you walked slowly to the room she was pointing to.
the room was so huge that even you, a six years old kid, was sure that even Japanese princesses could have such a large dressing room at most.
like everything else in the orphanage, this room was decorated with pastel tones.
while you were still busy looking around in surprise, you heard the sound of the door opening.
the woman, whom the girl who guided you described as Miss Mayumi, approached you with a cute smile on her face. she gestured for you to sit on the pink pouf chair.
you remembered the girl's 'smile' warning and put a smile on your face as you settled into the seat the woman showed you.
you sat down and looked at the woman with a sweet smile on your face. Miss Mayumi was still looking at you with the same smile and didn't say a word.
she scanned you from head to toe, analyzing you, and moved towards the clothes hanger stands.
Miss Mayumi viewed the kimonos for a while and finally, satisfied, chose a turquoise star-patterned kimono.
she came over to you and motioned with her hand for you to stand up. you stood up.
she placed the kimono on the pink pouf.
her hands reached out to you. you waited anxiously. your smile suddenly faded and you stiffened as Miss Mayumi started to take off your clothes.
she took off your clothes until you were left with your underwear and she started to put you in the kimono he chose, as if she has been doing this every day.
maybe she has been doing it every day.
you were extremely uncomfortable when she made you wear your kimono. she took your hand and pulled you to the back of the room. she sat you in a chair and started to do your hair humming a melody.
you were actually a little sweaty from what had happened the last two days, but she didn't seem to mind.
she styled your hair into a tie bun and gestured for you to follow her. and then you joined the other kids.
you soon realized that you all had to be perfect dolls here. it was like some kind of doll nursery. only for the perfect ones...
what if you're not perfect?
the screams coming from the basement at night answered your question. something about that green-haired woman. about miss kiyomi. It was clear that she is in a relationship with miss mayumi. you were also sure that Miss Mayumi was mentally unstable. but some evenings some of the children among you were leaving, never to come back. yes you understand that was the reason for all this fear. miss kiyomi was a monster.
