3:04 am , Dallas TX
My lungs were beginning to fail.
I gasped for air with sweat dripping on my porcelain skin. My feet move without nuance. Thousands of men were behind me with ropes and swords, gollaping on hunched-back horses with pure rage in their eyes. I felt a tear drip down my sunken cheek, and a feeling of defeat and fear evaded me.

I hear my mother's strained scream. I slowed down to look around, but she was nowhere in sight. Before I could run, a shining silver metal met my neck.

I hear a soulful cry-a cry no mother should ever go through.

"What the fuck was that". I whispered to myself as I flew out of bed.

"Ro Ro!".
"Ro Ro!" .

Why is she screaming this early in the morning?

"Mom?!".

I said this as I fled to her room in short breaths.
I opened the door to see my mother on the floor, holding her side.
"RoRo, please call for help!".

I fell to the floor beside her.
"Mom, speak to me, what's wrong?".
I said this to her in a worried tone.

"Can't you freaking see. I'm. dying. Call the ambulance, you idi- ". My mother said this in between breaths as she was wincing in pain.

I shook my head and ran to my room to search for my phone. I flung the covers off my bed. On my way to my mother's room, I dialed the closest hospital.

Hello, this is Smith's Hospital; how may I assist". Said the receptionist.

"My mother is in severe pain right now, and I'm not sure what to do!". I said while walking back and forth in my mother's room.

"Any sicknesses?".

"No, no, not any that I know of". I looked at my mom.

"Ok, what is your name and age?".

"Roe".

"Roe Huerta, I'm 16 sorry".

"That's fine; what's your mother's age and name?".

"Miranda Peréz, 43"

"Is she on any medication?".

"No, my mom was perfectly healthy; I don't know what's happening!".

"It's ok, baby, take deep breaths".

"Where on her body is she aching?".

"Her ummm-"

"Her upper left side"

"The EMS team is gearing up; what is your address?".

"7566 Avenue, Dallas, Tx".

"An ambulance is on its way; I want you to remain on the phone until they arrive".

3:21 am, Dalla, TX

"Aaaa, it's getting worse; how long are they taking".

My mother said she was squeezing her eyes shut in pain.

"Ma, an ambulance is coming!" I shouldn't have shouted, but I'm under immense pressure right now.

"Roe, I have to tell you something".

"No, mom, when this is all over with, you can speak."

"Ro R-".

Mom, please, it's okay; just take deep breaths".

"No I-".

Receptionist: "Hello, Roe, Are you there?".

"Hello, yes, I'm still here".

"Ok, I'm going to need you to draw her legs up slightly toward her chest, then put a pillow between her legs".

"Ok, thank you".

"Ro, please, can I talk to you".
"
Mom, you're on the verge of dying; what could be more important right now than your life?". I said I was feeling irritated.

"Roe, just listen, please".

"The ambulance is almost here; do you need some water?".

"No first, let me...".

"Please just rela-".

"Cant you shut it and let me speak?".

I hear the ambulance turning the corner.

"Finally". I said it under my breath.

I ran to the front door and opened it as they rushed out of the ambulance and ran towards the house.

"Follow me".
We all rushed inside my mother's room to find her laying on the floor, not moving.

"I don't know, I don't know; she was just talking!". I say I'm running towards her, shaking her body.

"Mam, I'm going to ask you to move".

*flash back*

"I never wanted to be your fucking father; if it were up to me, I would have killed both of you and flown back to Mexico". My father said to me: I was never his perfect girl; Tiandre was his favorite. I could never impress him if I were God, but God is God and I am not. No matter how good my grades were or how much I cleaned, he never seemed to care. My mother was saving money for us to move out, and when he found out, he stabbed her twice. I ran out of the room and called the police. In a matter of time, the front door burst open with police officers.
"You little shit I knew you were up to no good the minute you were born. You're going to grow up and be a prostitute like your mother". He said this while being detained.
"You have a right to remain silent; anything you say will be used against you in court.".

*end flashback*

I watched EMS lift her up onto the trolley with an oxygen mask. I got up and held her hand as we left our house into the cold morning breeze.

"Mom, everything is going to be okay, I promise you". I said I was almost crying.

She squeezed my hand as they lifted her into the ambulance.

Not Bad for my first book and chapter, ya think ?
