IV: Try Outs

Imani P.O.V

Three days later...

It was Volleyball try outs and I was confident. It wasn't my first time. Derrian was there. He was watching everyone practice before the try outs. I went into the locker room and changed into my volleyball clothes. I had a black and white crop top, black thigh shorts, some black and white stripe socks, and my Oreo Jordan's. I added deodorant... You know... Don't want to be musty for my man. I popped a mint in my mouth to make it fruity. I walked out and saw Derrian. He saw me and instantly smiled. I blushed. He stood up and hugged me. He wrapped his arms around my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Hope you do good at Tryouts..." He said smiling.

"Tryouts?" I asked.

"Yeah... This is try outs for volleyball..." He said in a duhh tone.

"Oh... Aha... This not try outs... This practice... Try outs for these... Wanna be's..." I said. We both laughed.

"IF YOU TRYING OUT GET ON THE FLOOR!!" Coach Willis said.

I snapped back into reality. I unwrapped my hands around him and went on the court. We began to do Queen of the court. There were two teams and there were people on each team. The goal is to return the ball with bump, set, and spike. The ball was not suppose to hit the ground. For this game were going to five points. Trish served the ball from the opposite side of me. As the ball came over the net. Kate bumped the ball, Ashley set it the ball, and I went in for the spike. I ran for the ball, I leaped into the air and I swung my hand back as the ball was coming towards me, I quickly smack the ball and it landed on the other side of the net.

"They wasn't ready" Kate said sounding like the girl off of the sharkiesha fight video.

Trish had a little angry expression. Then on her next serve after we won three points in a row. She served the ball and when she served it. It hit me dead in my face. I fell on the ground. Everyone gasped except Trish. I stood back up angry.

Derrian was standing looking worried. She took the ball and bounced it twice. Ashley moved up. Trish served it. Ashley bumped the ball to Kate. Kate set it to me. I jumped up and smacked it with a POWERFUL blow. It hit Trish in the face. Her head flew back and she fell on the ground. Hard. I shrugged my shoulders and smiled. I looked at Derian and he was laughing.

Tre P.O.V

It was basketball try outs and I was hella nervous. I saw Drake and he looked at me and laughed.

"Hey!" He said smiling and walking over to me.

"Hey..." I said fake smiling trying to cover up my nervousness.

We slapped hands. I walked further Into the gym and there was a lot of nuggas in there. Some were cute and some were... Ew. He called us randomly.

"Harris, Carol, Johnson..." I slowly stood up looking around.

The coach threw me the ball. I caught it and gripped it. I swirled the ball in my hands.

"Y'all are team one..." He said.

I nodded my head, ok.

"Wayne's, Thomas, Hues." He said picking randomly again.

I got even nervous. I'm going against Wayne's.

"Y'all are team two..." He told them. Drake nodded, okay.

"Game point... 5"

The coach grabbed the ball while I was still swirling it around. Everyone giggled. I looked him with a blank face. He threw it up in the air. What the fuck? This not fucking fair Drake was way fucking taller than me. I jumped up but missed. Drake took the ball and dribbled the ball towards the goal to dunk it. Devin tried to get the back but Drake jumped up and dunk it, knocking Devin over. I helped him back up. Now it was our turn. Drake gave the ball to Devin. I was being blocked by Drake of course. He was cheating. I pushed Drake a little. Devin passed it to me and I shook Drake off. I ran towards the goal but was tripped. I fell on my stomach. My palms were on the ground to keep my face from hitting the ground. The ball rolled and Drake took the ball and ran back to his goal and shot it. Everyone started laughing and cheered.

Now I was mad. I stood up. Gary Johnson grabbed the ball passed it to Devin, Devin passed it to me. I passed the ball through Drake legs, went around him and dunked it.

Everyone laughed and cheered me on. Rick Hue passed the ball to Drake.Drake ran up and shot it to goal. But instead I jumped up and smacked it. Devin grabbed the ball and dribbled and ran to the goal and dunked it.

"OKAY!!" I said smacking Devin hand. I walked passed Drake and squeezed his booty but nobody saw it. He looked at me smiling.

Imani P.O.V

After Volley ball tryouts was over I decided to stay since Marquelle said he was gone be late to pick us up again, so he wanted me to go to his baseball try outs with him. I got out to the field and I sat in the bleachers on my phone.

"Battter up!" The coach yelled. I looked up to see the back of a boy body. His shape was like Derrian. Marquelle pitched and the boy swung and missed. The back catcher caught the ball. I sat up and paid more attention to him. The back catcher threw it back at Marquelle. Marquelle took a deep breathe and threw it again. The boy swung and missed again. The back pitcher caught it. The coach threw up two fingers.

The back catcher threw it back. Marquelle took another deep breathe and threw it again. The guy swung and hit it this time. It went straight to Marquelle. Marquelle ducked and it went flying. The boy ran to first base, second base, third base and to home. When he was running to home I saw his face. It was derrian. I smiled hard and he did the same. He made it home.
