(Sorry I changed it to 3rd person. Didn't get a chance to edit the first few chapters bc I'm still figuring out which ones better)Rafael P.O.V
The buzzing of a phone nearby went off. It was dark and quiet until the small light and sound broke through the serenity followed by an irritated swear. Rafael Eukiran lifted his feet off the smooth black cherry desk and slid the wet towel off his disgruntled face. The damn device just couldn't leave him alone. Just one button and it wouldn't bother him for however long he wanted. But he couldn't turn it off. That would be too messy to deal with later on.
The week was blessed with heavy downfall and strong winds until it decided to surprise Farakul with its blazing sun this morning. Rafale loved the rain. Especially when it came with the layers of dark led clouds and low rumbles of thunder. He could instantly sleep off to its wuthering against the ceiling to floor office windows. Due to the blinding sunlight that caught him off guard at the end of the exhausting week he had to resort to pulling down every blind and turning off anything in the room with the slightest light. He needed darkness to fall back in place, to sleep, to escape.
The phone call had been from Darakhal. It was the fifth one this week along with some 13 messages. There were other missed calls as well, but they were the usual ones he ignored. Rafael opened up the blinds regretfully and the flooding sunlight lit up his prison. Black marble floors, black leather couches, oversized glass tables, maple dark wooden cabinets, untouched alcohol tucked away at a corner bar and streaming water shimmering down a stone covered wall; as if it couldn't be noticed, small lights flaunted the humorous display from a bottom angle.
It was 6:33 pm on Friday. His boys were probably at the carnival by now, checking out the hiped out Xan Luk 305 drone at Swan's Garage. The carnival would be half crowded tonight just for the beastly ride. It was said to be the fastest one yet with over 260 mph cutting through the white storms. It even held the long sleek sleds to swiftly and beautifully glide down a monstrous dune. He could offer the owners a deal if he wanted. He had the shares and title suitable for the purchase. It would be sitting pretty at one of the company's work sites but never to be ridden or even touched. Before he could even open its door his father would be at his throat. Reminding him of not wasting time with a collectors item and getting back to reality. Fighting him would only increase the problem and his mother would suffer unnecessarily. Which reminds him, he needed to call her back.
His thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock on the door before opening. The intruder was as tall as himself and with similar dark features. He gave a quick look at the room and strode over to Rafael.
"He wants to see you tonight at 9" He shifted around some leather files he was holding and dropped one on the marble desk a bit carelessly.
Rafael did not acknowledge his older brother Kai as he was already turned towards the vast horizon visible through the glass panes. His left hand was buried deep in a trouser pocket grasping at the familiar small sized rectangular box. A quick smoke would easily relieve the stress building up at this point. He needed it badly. Especially when he had to meet that evil bastard to wrap up this bloody week.
Kai seemed to be waiting for something, a response or question about the file but Rafael didn't bother. He didn't like discussing business with kai. It never felt natural and always too forced. So instead he decided to humor himself with fishing for news.
"Any plans for this weekend?" The question sort of came out with a slight menacing tone without Rafael meaning it to. He wanted to know if Kai had plans but at the same time he was too afraid to become jealous of the freedom.
Kai waited a moment before quietly responding. "Just a night out with Aliz"
Rafael lifted a corner of his mouth and finally took the box out of his pants, taking out a cigarette and propping it between his teeth before lighting its end with a lighter. He took in a long drag and closed his eyes when blowing the smoke.
