I had never imagined I would be terrified of someone so much, but from the minute I was discharged from the hospital, all I felt was fear. I'm so glad I had a father who would check up on me regularly, as well as a good boyfriend and son who cared for me so much. I had been at the clubhouse so much that I think I had forgotten I have a home, once I finally had the car fixed, as it conveniently fucked up just before I had Abel, Jax had finally fixed it, so he decided to give me a lift home until we could get the papers all done, he dropped me home and I waited for Gunnar to get back Whilst Jax would be gone for a few days in Nevada, doing a patch over. Which means I would be alone, it's fine though, Gunnar would keep me company.
The door opened and Gunnar came running in, "Mom? Where's dad?" He asked from his room, "Dad had to go do something with Grandpa for work kiddo, he'll be back in a few days alright?" Gunnar nodded and I'm guessing got to playing his video games because I didn't hear much from him until dinner time, "Is dinner ready?" Gunnar asked me, "Almost kiddo, I'd say about another 10 or so and it'll be done" he sat at the table and waited for me to dish his food, "Mom? When is Abel coming home?" Gunnar asked whilst eating, "I dunno, when the doctors say I can bring him home bud, he's gotta get strong, he's too little at the moment" I said, finishing my food, "Can I help you finish his nursery?" He finally had finished his food, "If you want too Gunnar, that's up to you bud, I wouldn't expect you too" he had decided he was gonna help me finish off Abel's nursery.
He was already the best older brother ever, and was clearly making the most of it whilst he could. Gunnar showered and went to bed a little while later, until I heard a knock on the door, "Yeah kiddo?" I asked, and Gunnar came in, "Can I stay in here with you? Even just to watch some movies mom" I nodded and turned on one of Gunnar's favourite films, once Gunnar was asleep my phone rang, I answered it to Jax's voice on the other end, "Hi baby, you alright?" I smiled, "I'm fine babe, How's Jury?" I asked, "He's alright, and don't worry, your dad is being a good boy, so are your brothers" I smiled, "No other girls for you either right Jax?" I heard him audibly laugh, "Why would I need any other girls" I smiled again and told him some stuff since he was obviously at Jury's clubhouse in one of the rooms there, "Where's my son?" Jax asked, "He's just fallen asleep on me, think it's because he knows you're not here to fall asleep with me so he decided too" I told Jax whilst playing with Gunnar's hair, "That's my little man, protecting his mama".
Once me and Jax had finished talking he assured me he would be home tomorrow night, finally, I thought, no more worrying about my ex finding me, finally, no more being terrified and not being able to sleep. I turned on some tv show in the background whilst I tried to sleep, mainly just for the white noise aspect of it and as well as a light for Gunnar incase he woke up to go to his own bed or the bathroom. I cuddled into my son, and finally, had started to drift off to sleep at what was probably early hours of the morning, since I couldn't let my brain settle until then. I began to finally drift off, when,
'Mom! Mom! Help me!' I heard Gunnar screaming in fear, I ran to the end of the house and had found Lukas, holding a gun to my sons temple, 'Mom! Don't let him shoot me please' I begged and pleaded with Lukas, but to no avail, he shot my son in the head, for no reason at all...
I woke up in a sweat, and checked my bed, Gunnar was there, next to me, sleeping peacefully, he was safe, that monster wasn't here to hurt us, and he never will, I refused to sleep for the rest of the night after that, I stayed up, watching whatever was on the tv, checked my laptop, did whatever I could to stay awake, the nightmares would come and go, but this one messed me up, and Jax or my family weren't here to keep me safe and protected because they were all out on a run. I had gotten up at some point during the night just to double check all of my windows and doors were locked, and I even checked the gun I kept with me, just to double check it was loaded, it thankfully was. I then got back into bed as the freezing, early morning air had finally started to settle into the house, I wrapped myself back in the blanket as best I could with Gunnar being the blanket hog he is.
I think I had passed out not long after that, I'm not quite sure, but I know I was woken up not long after to Gunnar shaking me, "Hmm?" I asked, rubbing my eyes, "Breakfast?" Gunnar asked, "Yeah, gimme a minute and I'll be in the kitchen to make it okay?" He nodded and got up to go play in his room or something, I ended up making breakfast and my phone rang once again I answered it and heard Jax's voice on the other side, "Hey" I smiled, "Hey, how was Nevada" I said, "It was good, we're leaving now, I'll be back around lunchtime" Jax and I spoke for a bit and even let Jax speak to Gunnar and he spoke to my father and my brothers as well.
I ended up dropping Gunnar off to school and then went to the hospital to go and visit Abel, when I walked into the room to see him in the incubator, I saw someone standing outside of the room, once again, never thought I'd see him again, my heart started racing, and I froze with fear, he realised he had obviously scared me and left, I felt the breath come back into my lungs seeing him leave my line of sight. I spent my time with my son and swiftly left the hospital soon after. Once I had gotten home, I saw Jax's bike in the driveway, indicating he was infact home. I walked into the house, and as soon as I opened the door, Jax was standing in the kitchen waiting for me, I swiftly wrapped my arms around him and clung to him like glue.
Jax seemed taken aback by my reaction to seeing him, "Nice to see you too" I felt him wrap his arms around me, he let me keep ahold of him until I let him go, "You okay?" I nodded, "Just missed you, I saw Abel today, he's beautiful" Jax smiled at me, "Can he throw a punch yet?" Jax smiled happily, "I think so, he's getting so strong" I happily said back, and for the day, we were happy.
Once we had all settled in the house, and Gunnar was home and sleeping in his bed, it was time for me to try and close my eyes, at this point, it has been damn near impossible, For once, I'm starting to accept the fact that insomnia damn well may be my new bestfriend.
