"May! Get your ass down here, we're gonna be late" I groan at my obnoxious sister.

"For the millionth time Liz" I shove my books into my bag and run down the stairs "It's Lynn. No one calls me May" I shove a piece of toast in my mouth and glare at my sister as I walk out the door.

"Well you'll always be May to me. Sheesh, you teenage pricks..." Liz mutters from behind me as I step into her car.

I gulp down the rest of the toast as she gets in and revs up the car "Just hurry up, I don't wanna be late again"

I lean my head against the window and turn my music up higher.

Another day in this fading shithole, here we go...

"Hey, Lynn, you listening?" I feel an arm shoving into the side of me, waking me out of my zoned out state.

"Huh, oh, yeah" I shake the dizziness off me and look back at my teammate.

She furrows her eyebrows at me "Okay... Well we're talking about the game against Southside, and if we don't crush this one it could ruin our season."

"Yeah, good point" I shove another fry in my mouth, looking around the table. "Team meet at my house tonight, three hour practice session. We gotta get in all the extra practice we can get before the game Friday. Everyone got it?"

The table fills with 'yes captain's' and 'go Ravens'. I go back to my food as the table starts buzzing with gossip once again.

I hear a notification ding and check my phone, seeing it's a message from my friend Aoron.

is tomorrow night good?

I giggle as I put my phone away.

"Oo, who's that?" the same team mate from earlier nudges me in the arm.

"Oh Sasha, cool it, it's just Aoron" I roll my eyes at my foolish friend.

Her oos get louder "Oh so it's JUST your boOoOoyfriend"

"He's been my best friends since we were 4, he is NOT my boyfriend" I groan "I'm taking your tots for that one" snatching the paper bowl.

"You can't just steal the whole thing!! Hey!!" she tries to grab it from me, but I've already shoved them all in my mouth.

"Uh" she stares at me in shock "bitch"

I smile at her innocently and continue eating my food like nothing happened, but my mind is filled with excitement for tomorrow, and the two weeks of camp afterwards.

I hum along to the song, letting my paintbrush dance along the canvas. Small pink trees lining a pastel horizon. 5 kids lay on the grass by the lake, watching the clouds. One of them has long wavy milk chocolate hair and eyes like gold, another with short curly black hair and glasses, one who's long shiny hair contrasts her purple eyes and oversized hoodie, one with short bouncing black curls and a gilded smile, and the last one with a book under his head, his frizzy blue hair splayed against it.

I smile as I paint Lynn's small delicate freckles, like stars splayed across her face.

I love my friends so much. Growing up it was just us, we were always there for each other. A warm helping hand for when things would get too tough. A shoulder to cry on when nothing was right.

"Aoron, can I come in sweetie?" my Mom knocks on my door, my poster echoing the sound like a drum.

"Yeah" I sigh, flipping my headphones off.

She walks in and sits on my bed "Aoron...there's no easy way to say this-"

"Dad's moving out, isn't he?" I fidget with the hem of my sweater.

"I-" she chokes, shaking slightly "I'm so so sorry honey"

I nod, looking everywhere but at her "Just lemme know when he's fully moved out"

My Mom throws her hand over her mouth, nodding, letting out heavy sobs as she leaves my room. Mine are less loud then hers. Tears spill over my cheeks and I don't even try to wipe them away.

I put my headphones back on and let my art overcome my thoughts.

Why should I care if he leaves? It's not like he was ever really here.
