Prologue
"I will love you forever Star, no matter what happens, no matter what anyone says, no matter the distance between us. You are my star, you are my everything, you are my life. I know you don't believe me, I know you never will, but that's not going to stop me. I've been hooked since that day on the beach, I've been falling since our very first kiss. Even if you leave me, you will always have a place in my heart, you will always own my heart."He whispered softly kissing the salty, sweat slick, clammy skin on Star's forehead. His stolid stoic stance gave away no emotion but Star looked up into Danny's eyes as she felt her own forest crystal moss green ones start to close and she saw the flood of emotion there. She felt his head heavily sitting on her abdomen as tears soaked her hospital blanket, internally she rolled her eyes.
"Stop being such a little bitch Danny I'm just sleeping, you can't get rid of me that easy."Star's raspy annoyed, yet soft and understanding voice accused him, and his head shot up pushing down on her punctured stomach causing her to wince as the pain throbbed throughout her body in excruciating waves. His eyes connected with hers through the bangs hanging over his eyes and the pain that she masked was well hidden but he saw it, he always did, she never really saw the point. It was just reflex, mostly. Old habits die hard, and guarding herself is the one she holds onto the most even if she doesn't want to. Danny moves closer pushing her golden bleach blond jagged split-end bangs from her face stroking her cheek with his thumb moving in closer to her. Hovering his face over hers hauntingly the way the image of him so broken and dejected as she left burned in her memory every time she slept and every time closed her eyes. But this wasn't a dream, he was really here, and he refused to let her go this time. It would best if he had let it go, but Danny's too stubborn to do that. That made Star angry and it made her heart swell in happiness at the same time. He can't take the easy way, ever. Can he? It's a part of him she hates and loves at the same time.
"Only you would say that after a guy pours out his heart to you."Danny says, and unlike the last time he said that, when they fought, well rather screamed at each other; he smiled lovingly down at her. His rough chapped lips pressed against hers not moving against them by kissing her he just laid his mouth on hers for a moment before removing them as he leaned in closer his face so close he came out unfocused and blurry to Star. Her heart started to beat faster accelerating dangerously, but as he grabbed her hand sitting sideways on the side of her hospital bed, his body twisted towards her, her pulse stopped racing and she calmed down. He always had that effect on her.
"Only you Star."He whispered trailing his mouth lightly brushing like the memory of a ghost's touch across her salty tasting, sweaty, clammy, pale cheek to her neck placing more of those same kisses all the way up the remainder of the ridge of her throat to her ear. Where his voice caresses her in a warm, reassuring, calming embrace, that had her shivering, making her doubt the choices she made, causing her heart to accelerate, but as the pads of the fingers on his left hand smoothed over her hospital gown rubbing her waist and the words he sprayed from his tongue over her like a blanket of security. Made her pulse recede once again, only for these six words to have her stomach swirling like a waterfall causing nausea to hit her in the best way as her heart froze as her body went still. How does he do that to her? Nobody ever had the power over her he does. Just by saying exactly what she needs to hear. Kissing her exactly when she needs it. Holding her just the way she wants to be.
"And I love you for it."How could such simple words make her feel so secure, and safe, but also making her feel rickety and scared.
"I love you too Danny, thank you, for everything, staying with me, loving me, forgiving me. Everything. I don't know if I could ever live without you, I don't know how I made it as far as did without you. You are my air, my pillow to rest on, my rock to lean on. I hope one day I will be able to give back everything you have graced me with by staying when I swore I didn't need you. When I promised I didn't want you."Star says making Danny smile his face flooding with emotion his body relaxing from the stoic position he put himself in as she began speaking. He knows how hard it is for her to explain what she feels, her emotions are a jumbled mess, like a bunch of cords and strings intertwined and weaved together in knots, she never knows exactly what to say and it always out wrong. But the best thing about Danny and Star's relationship is that he knew her well enough to know what she meant. He couldn't believe everything she said came out so clearly. That means she knows what she wants.
'she wants me, she's not second guessing it' He thinks to himself and does the only thing he can think of, he kisses her. Gently making sure to keep a good couple of inches of space between them so he doesn't cause anymore pain on her than what she's been through. Their lips moving in slow sensual motion as they sweetly explained their emotions as their mouths reacquainted themselves together. As they pulled apart they grinned as wide as they could at each other, wrapped up in their happiness as their foreheads leaned together and Danny breathed, breathlessly.
"You're mine, forever, I'm never letting you go again, I love you and I promise to be everything you need. That is a promise I intend to keep."He whispers and seals the promise with a kiss causing butterflies to fill her body from her toes to her throat, and her head to spin as her veins iced over in hot tingling vibrations with icy electrocuting sparking chills to burn her nerves as her skin melted in prickling goosebumps.
'Together, Forever. Finally.' Star sighs leaning into his kiss.
