It’s a beautiful day outside. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming. On days like these, kids like you- er sorry, wrong meme. Yes, it was a beautiful day, but as always, our sweet cinnamon bun Tari could care less. She’s enjoying her day through annihilating everyone she encounters in Smash Bros.
“I can’t believe I used to struggle against Ness players. It’s just all PK Fire.” (I wish I could say that for myself. Let’s just say Ridley’s fat ass doesn’t mix well with pk fire spam)
As she’s fighting her millionth online Captain Falcon, there’s a ring on the doorbell. Using her arm to somehow pause an online match, she goes to see who it is.
“Hey Tari.”
For anyone else, her sudden appearance would’ve been surprising. But with how wholesome and sweet Tari is, she barely bats an eye.
“Oh, hey Belle! Did you wanna come in?”
“Um, I was actually hoping to see if you wanted to go for a walk?” Belle said nervously.
“Oh, uh, sure!” Tari was surprised by the offer since she knew Belle was just as absorbed into gaming as her, but she didn’t pay much mind.
As they walked, Belle rubbed her normal arm nervously with her meta runner arm, which Tari took note of.
“Is something wrong Belle? You seem nervous about something.”
“I, uh… so, hypothetically, if you were to date someone, would you date another girl?”
Tari was once again surprised by her question, but she answered anyway. “Um, I never really thought about it, but… I could date either gender, yeah.”
Belle grew a slight blush before asking: “What if the girl was, um… me?”
Tari blushed greatly, knowing exactly what was going on now. “B-Belle, are you… asking me out?”
As Belle’s blush grew even bigger, she said: “J-just forget it! It’s stupid.” She tried to run off, but Tari grabbed her hand before she got a chance.
“Belle, I’d love to.” Belle looked back shocked. She couldn’t believe her ears.
“Wait, really? A-are you sure?”
“Y-yeah, I am.” Tari said reassuringly, still blushing.
Belle grew a huge smile on her face. “I-I’m so glad. There’s a new arcade in the city if you wanna go check it out.”
“Hehe, that sounds great Belle!” Tari smiled.
The moment they got there, they walked right up to the bouncer to get their game passes.
“Sorry ladies, we’re completely full right now. Everyone and their mother is here right now.”
“Damn it. I knew I should’ve come sooner.” Belle said frustrated.
“It’s alright Belle. We can go somewhere else.” Tari comforted.
“Wait… did you say Belle? As in, Belle Frontiere?” The bouncer asked.
“Um, yeah? What about it?” Belle asked.
“Girl, you’re a gaming legend! Here, unlimited game passes on the house! Please enjoy your visit!”
“Wow, you’re kinda famous aren’t you Belle?” Tari said gleefully.
“I’ll be honest, even I didn’t know about that. But hey, I’m not complaining! Let’s go, Tari!”
They spent the next few hours demolishing the records on each game, leaving no contest on each one other than with each other. After a while, they finally decided to sit down and enjoy a pizza together.
“Hehe, that was the most fun day I’ve had. Thank you Belle.” Tari said cheerfully.
“Heh, no problem Tari. I’m glad you enjoyed it.” Belle said before looking down sadly.
“Is… is something wrong Belle?”
“Do… do I really deserve this? Deserve YOU?” Belle asked solemnly.
“What do you mean?”
“I’ve been so rude to you in the past. I almost erased you from existence due to dumb jealousy! But, you forgave me without much thought, and you shared your kindness with me ever since. Outside of maybe Simpu, you’re the only person who’s ever shown me kindness, and I guess I kinda fell for you because of that. I don’t feel like I deserve it, though.”
Tari looked at her shocked, but after just a few seconds, she just smiled and said: “Belle… why do you think I was so kind to you? I see the best in everyone I meet, and with you, I knew you weren’t doing that because you really wanted to. I knew that, deep down, there was a good person in you. And I couldn’t have been more right.”
Belle looked up at her, tears starting to flow down her cheeks. “Tari, th-thank you. I-I don’t know how I could repay you…”
Tari stood up and gave Belle a quick kiss on the cheek. “You’ve already done plenty.” Belle held her cheek, shocked and blushing.
“Hehe, I had a lot of fun today. I’d love to do it again sometime!” Tari said cheerfully
“I-I would too! See you later, Tari.” Belle said, still in shock.
