Excitement bubbled like champagne in Hope's chest as she stood in front of the mirror, smiling at herself. At the same time, she removed the heated rolls from her hair that gave her hair a glossy flip of body.
She'd spent the day caring for the creatures, but when all tasks were complete, she returned and scrubbed the grime away from her body with anticipation. They'd be going out to dinner tonight, and seeing more people and having more experiences elated her with giddiness.
Hope leaned closer to the mirror and looked her features over. She didn't have makeup like the women in New York had been sporting. What might she look like with ruby-red lips?
"You look...spectacular." Newt's voice came from behind her.
Turning, she grinned and gave a little curtsy. She wore a black dress gem encrusted dress with frills and layers that only came to life when she spun. If he liked this, she couldn't wait to see what he thought of her ball gown for Valentine's Day.
"Thank you," she looked him over with a sly smirk, "and you look dashing yourself." She giggled and moved forward as he fiddled with his tie. She straightened it for him and stroked her fingers across his shoulders. "You look... spectacular in a suit." Hope bit her lip, looking him over with hungry eyes. She couldn't wait to unwrap the package when they returned.
Albus stepped in, adjusting his own cufflinks, with a sly smile. "I must agree."
His words earned a rush of red to Newt's cheeks.
Usually, Hope's favorite color for Albus was the gray that brought out the silver in his blue eyes. Still, his midnight blue suit made her heart do a somersault.
Turning back to the mirror, she frowned a little.
"Do you think I need makeup?"
Newt tilted his head, coming up behind her to look at her reflection with her. "I suppose that depends."
"On what?" She asked. Maybe she was too pale?
"On if you want makeup."
Hope looked over at him with a slow blink and a slight smile.
Newt shrugged as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, and she quickly realized he wasn't looking at her reflection. He was trying to tame his unruly curls. "You're beautiful without it, but if it would make you happy, then I don't see anything wrong with it."
Grinning, she leaned forward and kissed his cheek.
"What was that for?" He asked with a little chuckle.
Hope shrugged. "For being you."
Albus, who was smiling while sitting on the edge of his bed. "Makeup or no, you're not quite finished getting ready yet, Hope."
Hope looked over at him and looked down at herself. Even her shoes were laced on, all pretty- what was she missing?
"I'm not?"
Albus shook his head, patted his knee, and crooked his finger to gesture for her to come to him.
Raising a brow, she did as requested and stopped between his legs.
Chuckling, he rested his hands on her hips. "You had mentioned the other day you purchased something for fun through an Owl?"
Hope nodded slowly, warmth rising to her cheeks as she started to see where this was going.
"It gave me an idea," Albus smirked, watching her eyes widen. He pointed to the nightstand. "Open the drawer and bring me what's inside."
With narrowed eyes, Hope inched over to the drawer. Glancing at Newt, who watched with surprised anticipation in the bathroom doorway- hands in his pockets, she looked down at the drawer and pulled its handle.
