“Why do you think they did that?” I asked the person beside me.

The person spoke in a low voice, “Because they want attention.”

Sighing heavily, I brought my gaze back to the huge words written on the white wall of the resort. Series of words were written there; evident vandalizing.

I drew a deep breath once again as I tore my gaze off the sore view.

“Please repaint the walls with the same shade,” I muttered and turned my back against her.

I heard her uttered a word of obedience. I took the elevator to go straight to the room where everything was monitored. . . or so I thought.

“Miss Gomez,” the in-charged personnel welcomed me with a worrying look all over his face. “Na-retrieve po namin ang footage para sa na-vandal na part ng hotel. Ito po 'yong mga . . . salarin.”

He handed out a long brown envelope. I accepted it and scanned the pictures. The culprits were. . .

I shut my eyes close as I took a breath again, deeper this time. Before I could even speak, someone from behind spoke first.

“Bunch of foolish kiddos.”

It was the investigator I hired to study the possible enigma behind the vandalized wall. He was a tall man, yet has a slim body. He is probably around forties.

“Who do you think hired them, Miss Gomez?” he followed flawlessly as if I didn't pay him thousands just to look over this matter, but he did nothing of sort. He just simply walk around the resort and hunched it was some children's doings. It was a great hunch. I began doubting his words, though.

“Isn't that your work, Mr. Investigator?” I threw back. “You should catch the mastermind behind this foolish game.”

This happens monthly that I grew tired of it. I was so done with different kiddos vandalizing the walls of my owned property. I thought it was harmless at first, but the words right now send chills down my spine. I felt like I was back at that dark moment of my life.

I closed my eyes tightly as the vandal replayed on my mind.

“Miss Gomez, are you alright?” I heard the investigator asked.

I opened my eyes, simply nodded, and gestured a dismissal to him. “This matter ends here. Thank you for your service.”

I turned around, strode to my personal space with the evidence in my right hand.

I have let him go for so long. Why does his obsessed shadow still follows me?

I have evidences, and I am certain she was behind this doing.

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to run away from the past, it will still chase you. All that happens. . . for one thing.”

I recalled the words my therapist usually tells me.

“Because you did not close the door that connects your present with the past. You did not completely shut the door close, hence the monster still chases you down,” I uttered; echoing her words.

Good thing I remained calm even with the ruckus earlier. I was reminded of that dark moment again, but I managed to shoo it off. I am now calmed. I am the product of a one-night storm. I did not go all the way the world to get treated just to be triggered badly by those words. I am done with that moment. I just have to end it completely.
