Third Person POV

As the sun peaked through the windows of the second story home and into the boy's bedroom, Finn stirred awake. His bed hair leaving him sporting a rather dishevelled look, rubbing his eyes and stretching like all the movie characters do. Finn glanced to his left to see the clock on his bedside table flashing a bright red '6:42'.

Just before my alarm, I must be excited for this oh so wonderful day, he thought sarcastically. Finding his already crumpled uniform and getting dressed, brushing his teeth and sauntering down stairs to the open plan living/dining area, the young brunette got ready for the already boring day.

"Morning Mom"
"Good morning honey, how are you feeling?" The thin blonde woman called out, afterwards turning to face her son as he stood across the room.
"Nervous, but I'll be fine"
Finn served himself a small bowl of fruit from the ginormous stainless steel fridge in their new house. It felt odd to live the life of luxury.

"Make sure you have your bag fully packed, you need to drive down early to meet with Prinipal Ablin to grab you're schedule and be given a quick show around" Finn's mother had turned back around and was gathering the last of her things for a busy day of managing a real estate firm. She had just received a promotion last year, hence the fancy, new life they had curated on the other side of Hillsbury.
"Yeah yeah, I packed it last night. I just need to go grab it and my keys and I'm all set" Finn placed the bowl in the sink and turned to walk back up the stairs to retrieve his things.

"Have a good day at school Bug, and call me if you need anything!" She called on her way out the door, her large purse dangling from her left arm as she swung the door closed with a thud that shook the house slightly. It was definitely going to be a long day for them both.

An almost eerie silence was cast over the building as Finn shuffled up the hard wood steps, grabbed his bag from the floor and his key from his desk and finally checked himself in the mirror one last time. You've got this. You look like all the other boys, no one will notice you, you will have an okay first day and it'll go back to being a bland life again minus the snide comments here and there from opinionated assholes. Go get 'em tiger. Finn cringed at his silly inner monologue and decended the stairs, shutting the front door just as hard and then driving himself off to the new hell hole called school he was forced to attend.

~~~~~~
He'd been here before. A few times actually, for interviews and meetings about accommodations and all that jazz. Nevertheless, the posh atmosphere of the fancy white buildings with huge glass windows and even fancier sports cars of all the staff and students already at school at this hour, and even just the lack of graffiti or the freshly pruned shrubs that lined the main building entrance would never cease to shock the 17 year old. This is my school. I go here for realsies. I'm not dreaming. Was all that Finn's brain could think. Wow.
A few students moved within the building, and another entered through the front doors. Finn followed. He vaguely remembered the directions to the office, booking it straight past a few small groups of early students in favour of the quiet solitude of middle aged admin staff that couldn't care to speak to you. After about 10 minutes of wandering aimlessly, 1 helpful point in the right direction from a kind younger boy who saw Finn's struggling face and 1 case of taking the wrong turn, Finn wandered into a large but cramped room with multiple desks and at least 3 or 4 staff members huddled behind seemingly even larger computer screens and many floor to ceiling cabinets full of paperwork.
"How can I help you sir?" An older woman with greying thin hair that was in a high bun, wispy bangs and thick rimmed glasses beckoned the boy to the front of her desk. Her smile was kind but something in her eyes told the timid boy she was not to be messed with.
"I'm a new student here and I'm supposed to be meeting with Principal Ablin to collect my things" Finn mumbled, barely audibly.
A young man that looked to be in his mid to early 20s approached them and stepped out form behind the array of desks.
"You must ne Finn Norfolk. Follow me. I'll show you to Mr Ablin's office. I'm Tanner the Student Resource Officer and the Guidance Counsellor and I'll be giving you your tour once the principal gives you your things." There was an overbearing caring tone in the man's voice as he spoke, his small smile never living his pale face.
"Thank you" It came out as a mutter as Finn scrambled to follow the young man as he hastily lead Finn towards another door that was labled 'Principal's Office'.
Around 10 to 15 minutes later Finn emerged with a few papers shoved in a manilla folder and a key attached to a dorky green key chain with the school logo that was for the 3 on campus unisex bathrooms.
"Your home room is located at the back end of our school I'm L block so I'll leave you there once I've shown you all the main spaces youll use like your locker, the cafeteria, library, bathrooms ecetera and obviously all of your classes. If you have any questions just ask and if you pass me your folder I'll write down my email if I'm not around to help you in person. As I'm sure Principal Ablin has mentioned I have 15 minute meetings set with you immediately after school on Wednesdays for catch ups and and help you may need throughout your time with us at Lakeshore." Finn almost wished Tanner would shut up but he chose not to acknowledge that thought.
The pair roamed the school for approximately 30 minutes while Tanner rambled about each 'important' room they passed and only stopped at Finn's locker for about 10 minutes to put his stuff away and get his books ready for the 5 classes he had on today. Finn did not miss the many side glances, double takes and outright glares he received as they walked, only about 20 minutes in when the bell for home room rang and the student body dispersed did Finn finally feel like the back of his skull wasn't burning with looks from his peers. Just great. I've already made enemies.
Once they reached L27, the fated first class, the pair were already 10 minutes late but upon seeing Tanner, a middle aged man, who he eventually came to know was Mr Fahye, dismissed his tardiness and welcomed the tall boy into the classroom and forced him to introduce himself.
"Everyone's attention please!" The man boomed "This is our new student, please be silent while he introduces himself. He will be sitting next to Jared for the remainder of the year. Jared put your hand up!" A tall and devilishly handsome boy who sat towards the back raised his hand and Finn glanced at him only to avert his eyes at the eye contact they made with each other.
"Hi, I'm Finn Norfolk..." he nervously glanced to the floor and then back up, making eye contact with Jared again. "I'm 17 and I'm from Saint Martin but I recently moved here for my mother's job".
"Thank you Finn, welcome to Hillsbury and from all of us welcome to Lake Shore High" Mr Fayhe finally lowered his voice gesturing for Finn to find his seat. Well this will be interesting.
