Cecilia

The bright sun casts its warm light behind me and the cream colored walls of my bedroom from childhood while I'm listening to the song "Biblical" by Calum Scott. I sing along the lyrics softly with the help of the pop up lyrics on YouTube Music. I then lay my head on my pillows as I sing the chorus softly when I feel my bed dip beside me along with four gentle taps on my nose. I stop singing and look over to face Zayna laying across from me with her face bore a look of concern. I turn off the music and lower my headphones from my ears to around my neck.

"What's the matter, Minnie Me?" I query concernedly. She glances at her fingers and I observe her lips tremble. "D-don't be mad, Cecilia." Zayna cautions as she sits up. I sit u straight, facing her. "J-J-Jeremy is--"

"Cecilia, Jeremy is here!" Athena bolts in my room, fuming with her eyes widen in apprehension, completing Zayna's sentence with an echo. Soon as those words are said to me, my eyes bulge and my nostrils flare before I squeeze my eyes shut as I breathe hard. It's been three years since I stopped talking to that jerk over some bullshit his girlfriend caused by her instigate false allegations about me and my friends sans Athena flirting with Jeremy, along with accusing me of getting the role of a character on a hit TV show on the FX channel that I've starred on for three years by sleeping with the show's casting director, and claimed that Athena came onto her when in reality, Hannah came onto not just Athena, but my Cousin Reagan, Sylvia, Jacqueline, including me! Shit, we all beat the brakes off the pera loca or crazy bitch. I've moved on and I don't give a fuck what he has to say to me. He should've believed Athena given the fact that she's his twin sister and us.

I can't let my feelings of pent up anger and resentment I have for this man for three years show in front of the girls. Instead, I look down and peer at my clean burgundy French tip manicure. "Who wants Chinese food tonight?" I ask as I turn my phone on to be on the DoorDash app, actually looking at Chinese food restaurants.

"Cecilia, Zayna and I know you just heard what I said." Athena says.

I lift my head and look at Athena in the eyes. "Athena, I heard you loud and clear," I assure. "I'm not in the mood to see him right now."

"I was pissed off when I saw him in our parents' kitchen and I'm still pissed, Cecilia." Athena informs.

"Athena, I know you're maintaining your distance from your brother and blood is supposed to be thicker than water since the two of you were two peas in a pod back then; communicate your feelings with each other. Remember to prioritize your well-being and give yourself some time you need to think it through. Whenever you're ready, you can consider expressing your feelings and thoughts to Jeremy in a calm manner without interrupting him." I advise.

Her firm frown softens and both her arms drop to her sides. "You're right," Athena speaks softly. "Taking me back to elementary school, I remember your mom taught us that writing about our feelings makes us feel heard and the solution to our problems." A few years before discovering my parents dancing on YouTube, my mom happens to be one of the coolest teachers at the Grand View Boulevard Elementary School until she retired in 2009 when she turned fifty and changed careers to become an emotion-focused therapist.

"'Write what you feel.'" I recall my mom's catchphrase from her classroom as my friends and I, including Jeremy were some of her students.

"If I forgive my brother, would you forgive him as well?" Athena queries. The question she asked me if I could forgive him is something I never see coming because I told him to stay out of my life while I move forward to focus on my singing career. To be honest, I'm not ready. It'll definitely take some time to get over it, but I would forgive.

"If he sincerely apologizes, like sincerely apologize from his heart and his actions shows of remorse; I'll let bygones be bygones. If not, I would go off extreme like the last time." I promise.

"Like Teresa Giudice from the Real Housewives of New Jersey extreme?" Athena questions, narrowing her eyes.

"Like Teresa Giudice flipping the table on season one and episode six of the Real Housewives of New Jersey extreme." I affirm, pursing my lips convincingly as I start making my order from the nearest Chinese food. I will be on my best behavior since Sylvia and Noah's wedding is in a few days, I won't act like a fool. I'll be ready and prepared when that day comes.
