"Miles, we have to leave, go get your bag, sweetheart." I said, calling out to my six-year-old son across the classroom. He ran over with one of his classmates, and they both smiled widely at me. "Somethings up, what are you both planning?" I asked, chuckling.
"Can Nicky have a play date with me?" Miles eagerly asked. I looked between both boys a bit hesitant.
"We would need permission from Nicky's mom, and she's not here sweetheart." I reminded him.
"She's right there" Nicky answered, pointing. I followed the direction he was pointing to and saw Emily Nelson, Nicky's mom. Emily Nelson is a PR director for a fashion company, super rich, totally bitchy, rarely comes around the school.
Then again I might be too judgy; all of these are just gossips I've heard about her from the other Parents.
Emily closed her car door and pulled out her umbrella, making her way over to us in the rain. I would be lying if I said I wasn't staring at her. The way how she looked so effortlessly flawless in a suit, in the pouring rain.
When she got closer to us, in the shelter, Nicky ran over to her, and she picked him up. "Hey little dude," she said, kissing his face.
"I want a play date with Miles," Nicky responded. "Oh, we can't, Mommy already has a play date with her anti-depressants."Emily said holding Nicky's hand while he screamed. "Play date. Play date." Both boys shouted, jumping up and down, encouraging Nicky.
"Nicky, come on, get in the car," Emily said, groaning."I'm not leaving until you say yes to the play date," Nicky responded, glaring at his mom.
"I'm not winning this am I?" she groaned, then looked up at me, hesitant, "You drink?" she asked, and I nodded."I mean yeah, but no, I don't really drink.. like obviously I drink.. I mean I don't drink alcohol in the afternoons so early" I stuttered a bit intimidating by the blonde.
"Yeah, no. Nicky let's go I have work stuffs to get done" Emily said holding Nicky's hand while he screamed. "No, No, No I want a play date with Miles" he screamed kicking. Emily placed him on the ground groaning, "God he is so fucking stubborn, isn't he? I'm not winning this so how about that play date huh? We could just have beverage" Emily said looking up at me.
"Yeah definitely" I answered,"How can you be a mom and don't drink though" she asked mocking me. "Does your kid drink" she ask.
"I can't tell if your joking, I hope you are" I chuckled anxiously._________________________________________
I arrived at Emily's house which was an hour drive from where I lived. Emily's house was so big and pretty. We all walked inside and the boys then ran off to play.
As we walked into the living room, I spotted a fully nude painting. "Oh wow that's so" I started "beautiful" she said finishing. "You like it?" She asked "I do yeah..It's a..wow painting" I said struggling, "That's you?" I asked and she nod smirking.
We walked into the kitchen with Emily and I still talking about the painting. "I hope I didn't sound too rude, it's a really beautiful painting.. your.. your really beautiful" I stuttered watching as Emily stripped pieces of her clothing, taking off her blazer.
I stood staring at Emily, watching her every movement. "Baby your staring" She said and I looked away embarrassed. "Uh,Yeah sorry" I apologized and she used her fingers to turn my head to her. "You don't need to do that, you don't need to apologise. It's a fucked up female habit. You don't need to be sorry for anything ever" She said and I gulped looking down at her hand.
What the hell is happening to my body.
Emily chuckled at my shyness and started walking away, "I'm gonna get booze" she said.
When she came back I was already seated at her kitchen table. "This kitchen is lovely, you must loving cooking in it" I said truly admiring the kitchen. "I don't cook" she responded getting two glasses out the cabinet. "But I could be down for a meal from you" she said but I think there was more meaning to that sentence.
We talked a bit more until the topic reached her husband, which I for some reason tensed at. "So how about you, you and Miles father still together?" She asked "Uh no, he died a couple years back, in a car accident" I answered. "Oh, I'm sorry about that sweetheart" she said squeezing the lime into the martinis.
"Yeah I don't talk about it alot, especially with people I just met. Oh I'm sorry for just trauma dumping like that" I apologized. "Baby if you apologise again I'm gonna have to slap the sorry out of you" Hot asf.
"Yeah, it's a hard habit to break" I said and she nod. "It is, so are you seeing anyone?" she asked, "Nope, I'm not" I answered and she smiled. "You are an hour into the city, maybe get yourself a boy from the city or even a girl if you swing that way" she advised and I chuckled a bit. "No I don't think I want to date someone from the city" I answered.
She handed me the martini glass and I took it about to take a sip when the front door open. Her husband walked in and I waved Hi, "Oh honey I didn't know we were having company" he said and kissed her. Something about seeing his lips on her spur Jealousy? In me.
While they kissed Emily eyes remained on me and I looked away. They kept kissing for a minute until I cleared my throat. "So Uh it was great of you to have us over but Miles and I have to go, I have to get back home to make dinner. MILES, sweetheart come on we have to leave" I shouted trying to find Miles.
I walked away from the couple and Miles ran downstairs. "Say goodbye to Nicky" I told him shuffling his hair and he did. On our way to the door Emily stopped us. "Let me walk you to your car" she offered.
"Thank you for the drink" I said and she hummed licking her lips. I halfed smiled and got in my car and she came at the window. "Here's my number incase the boys want to do this again" she said handing me a paper. When I reached for it she held on to my fingers a little longer than needed.
