Fear... Anger... Guilt
These emotions rage war inside of Jungkook as he sees his mother in the grip of the monster.
Fear for his mother's life. Anger at his ocean curse. Guilt over the pain dealt out because of him.
"Let her go" Jungkook says with newfound resolve rising to his feet.
"They kept you from me" the creature spits "And now they must pay"
The ocean creatures pointed fingers begin to dig into his mother's throat casing the woman to splutter and gasp.
Jungkook gives out a panicked cry but the creature ignored him, bent on exacting revenge.
Desperation fills Jungkook and before his survival instincts can stop him, he throw himself off the stairs.
His ears ring from the shock of the jump as he hits the water. The flood cushions him fall but he still hits the hallway floor with a thud. His shoulder get hurt. He groans with the impact.
Grimacing he surfaces and finds himself face to face with the merman.
The merman is more stunning up close so otherworldly is the being befor him. It is terrifying.
Toned arms grip Jungkooks, black eyes smouldering. He isn’t getting away this time.
Jungkook lowers his gaze to peer over the mermans shoulder, spotting the outline of his mother's feeble from hunched over the bottom of the stairs. The silhouette is taking shuddered breaths.
Jungkook lets out a small breath of relief. His plan of distraction had worked.
"If you leave my family alone" Jungkook raises his chin to once more meet the ocean monster's state "I will go with you"
"No Jungkook" his mother cries out barely a whisper "Don’t —"
"Let them go and then I will be yours" Jungkook bargains. His brave facade faltering when he is unable to stop his voice trembling any longer "Please"
A single tear begins to roll down his soft cheek.
The merman tilts his head ever so slightly then bring a hand up to Jungkook's face. He flinched expecting a blow. None comes.
He feels a gentle touch as the merman brushes aside the tear.
"It's pain me to see your sorrow" the merman replies in that silken tone of his.
For a moment Jungkook think he sees a gleam of sadness in his onyx eyes.
Then the merman blinks and any hint of compassion disappear into a glare of jealousy.
"But I refuse to share you"
A sharp needling like spine embeds It's self in Jungkook's thigh. Faraway screams echo in Jungkook ears and he barely realise they're his own before his vision fades to darkness.
