~rosie's POV~
The air was foggy, and so was my brain. I stumbled my way to my locker before stuffing my bag in, retrieving my folders, then slamming it shut. I was not having a good day, therefore my locker won't either. The bang of my locker door echoed through the building as I walked off to my first class, which I was already late to.
The last time I've walked around this school was last Friday, I'm already lost. Last Friday was another part of the school's shit orientation program, so all we did was walk around for a couple of hours, talk and eat flavourless apples.
I was minding my own business strolling around in the hallways, pretending I knew where I was going before a girl sensed my confusion and walked over.
"Hello! Nice to meet you, I'm Laine! Looks like you're having trouble finding your class, right?", the skinny girl asked, her soft, blue eyes glistening under the lights above.
"Oh! Yes! Hello! Do you know where room S07 is by any chance...?", I asked, embarrassed. Laine was definitely year seven as well, she looked so young, how did she know I couldn't find my room?
"Oh, yes, sure! That is a science room, and it is right this way!", she said, pointing towards another bigger building labelled SR through the window. How did she know it was a science room? I have so many questions to ask her, I'll just catch up with her at recess.
"Thanks Laine! I'm Rosemary by the way, call me Rosie." I said with a smile, waving a goodbye.
"See ya Rosie! Have fun! Also, here's my locker number and code, feel free to slip a note in my locker!", Laine said, handing me a sticky note then blowing a kiss and walking off.
I quickly rushed to the science building and found the seventh room, S07. I looked through the glass window to see no more than twenty students staring up at a young man. As I was spying on the class, I spotted an empty seat that I assumed was mine. I made up a plan in my head to try and avoid getting caught:
1. push open the door silently.
2. walk to my seat silently.
3. sit down silently.
And that was what I did. I slowed pushed open the door, still making it creak slightly. I was relieved when no one turned their heads when I almost slammed the door shut. I made my way to the empty seat and sat down, unloading my books onto the table. The ugly boy next to me gave me and ugly look I've never seen before then shot his hand up in the air.
"Mr Wallace! Mr Wallace! This girl is late!", the boy shouted, pointing his nasty finger at me. I could see drops of snot coming out of his huge nose from how loud he yelled.
"Theadore! Theadore, calm down! I know, I saw her, but that is not your problem to worry about. I will talk to her after class." Mr Wallace said calmly, continuing on with his lecture.
I whipped out my notebook like everyone else and started doodling some stick figures before Mr Wallace suddenly yelled,
"CLASS DISMISSED!".
I look over to everyone else, they've already packed up their books and belongings, I was the only one still with pencils scattered all over their desk. I gather up my stuff and stand up, ready to run out the door before stupid Mr Wallace stopped me.
"Ms Marlowe, stay. I will inform your next teacher about your absence for the first ten minutes. Please take a seat." Mr W said, not looking but sounding angry. I looked up at him and nodded, this was when I noticed his green eyes, they were so-
"Ms Marlowe, I would like to have a little talk about this morning." he said as he interrupted my thought.
"Oh. Sorry, I couldn't find the room. I was only a little-", I started.
"Only a little? More like thirty minutes Ms Marlowe! That's half of our class time wasted!"
"Sorry... I will be on time next time...", I muttered.
"Yes, that is what you'll do. Let's all hope you're on time for our French lesson this afternoon." he smirked... WAIT. I HAVE THIS OLD MAN AGAIN FOR FRENCH? OH SHIT.
I nodded before walking out of class... the way Mr Wallace smirked... this reminded me so much of Marcus!... why am I even thinking about him? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU TODAY ROSIE?! HE PUSHED YOU OFF A FUCKING CLIFF. REMEMBER THAT AND NEVER THINK ABOUT MARCUS AGAIN! I thought in anger before making my way into English.
I climbed many flights of stairs before reaching the English room, there were so many stairs in this building... I wonder why they didn't call it stair building?
I pushed open the door of the English classroom quietly, trying to not draw attention.
"Hello Rosemary. I'm going to be your English teacher this year, call me Mrs Klarks." my teacher said with a welcoming smile, her the light reflecting off her large, hazel eyes making me blind.
"Take a seat wherever... oh, there's only one seat left, Theadore is nice, just take a seat next to him. Mr Wallace warned me about your absence for the first ten minutes, we've just been introducing ourselves." Mrs Klarks said, gesturing to a seat... a seat next to that ugly kid again. UGH. HE IS SO FUCKING GROSS I CANNOT RIGHT NOW. But I did like how Mrs Klarks called me Rosemary and not Ms Marlowe, so I guess that's a start.
At the moment all I cared was getting all the eyes off me, so I did what I was asked and sat down next to the fat boy. I looked over at Theadore and gave him the 'you're lucky Theadore because next time I will be complaining to the teachers, so enjoy my company while you can' look before I started doodling again.
The lesson went by pretty quick, and straight after homeroom, I ran to Laine's locker, not even making a stop at mine first. Laine's locker was 62, not far from mine. This is the note she handed me:
Hey! My locker is number 62 and the code is 4262.
Feel free to leave me a note! :)
- Your fav, Laine <3
I walked over to her locker to see her head poking out from the top, her hands busy rummaging through her bag. I stood there for a few seconds, staring at the top of her head before she finally saw me.
"God Rosie! You scared me! Why didn't you say hi?", she said, looking up from her locker.
"Well hi. See, I just said it. Also, I forgot my snack-", I started as I remembered what I was missing.
"WAIT REALLY! ME TOO! LET'S GO TO THE CANTEEN TOGETHER!.. shit. My money." Laine yelled, pulling me into a tight hug I haven't felt for way too long.
"I've got money, do you want to use some?", I asked, pulling out a $5 bill from my pocket and handing her. As she was standing, I could see inside her locker, it was so damn messy it made my head hurt. Her bag was dangling out and it looked super old, it also looks like Laine rummaged through it real hard, it was literally on the edge of ripping!
"Oh my goodness! Thanks bestie! C'mon, let's go, I am not waiting in the line for the whole recess just to get my recess." Laine said, kicking her locker shut and dragging my out of the building.
I like Laine... as a friend. She was so jumpy and fun! But I wonder where Marcus is at... what if he's at the canteen too? What if I stand behind him in the line?- no. NO. NO. NO. STOP THINKING ABOUT HIM. GET THOSE THOUGHTS OUT OF YOUR MIND ROSIE.
