Part V: Times of Peril

Third Person, Thalia centered

waves by fiji

After one five days it was safe to say oceanside was her favorite place in the entire world, at first she spent her day alone. Cooped up in Lily's room reading books and listening to music until her ears ached.

Once she finally left the house is when it became fun, she met two girls who worked in the armory and they invited her to sleepover. It sounded weirder and weirder to her the more they said the word.

It felt nice to be a normal teenage girl for once, especially when it came to having other people do your own hair for you. She had normally resorted to a very messy ponytail but now she had people bumping shoulders to do braids.

Lily had been friends with them prior making the transition into quaint friendship smooth. So they hung out for the next few days, up until the day before she was planned to leave and go back home.

Tonight they all had planned to stay up late and meet up at the beach around 1 in the morning, bringing blankets and pillows with them as they rushed toward the cave off of the beach. The deal was to wake up to watch sunrise, which had low odds of it actually happening.

When they all arrived, after clearing the area of biters and setting up a perimeter, they settled in under the cave, laying on the blankets on the ground and spreading the stolen food around.

At night the beaches were practically empty, everyone seemed to know if you're in a cave it's likely to be ignored by the biters.

Laura, one of the older girls, pulled out a paper bag from her backpack emptying it out to reveal 4 neatly wrapped joints.

Beside her Melanie was starting a small fire off to the side providing them with light and warmth.

Settling onto the ground Thalia watched Lily pull a large glass bottle out of her bag, plopping it down in her lap with a sigh as she looked up dramatically, "Ladies it's time, I've brought out the pre apocalypse vodka."

Looking toward her they all folded their legs, "Everyone get a cup this is gonna be the first and last time we ever drink," she pulled the red cups from her bag passing one to each of the girls.

Once everyone had a cup she filled them up halfway, screwing the cap back on before filling the cup up more with thin bottle of orange juice she had.
