June 24 2004:
"And the winner of the 2004 Young Ladies Beauty pageant of Rostov Russia is," spoke the older woman on the stage as 3 young contestants stand behind her, all awaiting to hear the winner. All hoping their name would be called. Each girl was the age of 13, on the right was a girl with golden blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She was on the shorter side, only reaching the shoulders of her two competitors to her left. Her perfect pearly white teeth looked to have went through at least 30 whitening treatments in preparation for this pageant, and her wardrobe looked to have belonged to an older sibling or cousin because the fits of her outfits were off in many areas. It was a wonder how she even made it to the finals. In the centre was a girl with long, flowing black hair and pale blue eyes. She had a perfect face, and her smile gave her the appearance of a trained supermodel. And her outfits her perfectly tailored to her figure. Everyone was thinking her victory was sealed even though this was her first ever beauty pageant. And lastly to the left was a girl with short, shoulder length, pale blonde hair and hazel eyes. Her face was dotted with freckles , she was pretty but not supermodel worthy. She had perfect posture except for her ability to stand in the small heels on her feet. She looked like a newborn calf trying to stand.
The girls all stood still in anticipation, the girl in the centre was imagining how happy she would be when she heard her name be called as the winner, she had it all planned out; she would step forward and be crowned the winner, smiling and waving in a royal manner as if she was the Queen, in Russia that would known as the Tsarina. She imagined how her family, seated in the front of the show room, would all be cheering and celebrating their youngest daughter's victory! She had dreamed of that crown for months, she had been preparing for this pageant for the last two years. She had gotten top scores from the judges in all categories; she could taste the sweetness of victory.
As she stood on stage, smiling perfectly as if she had no fear or worry in the world, She waited for her name to be called. And she waited, and waited. She continued to wait until she finally clued in that her name wasn't called at all, she didn't recall her name being called, she had heard the name of the small girl to her right with the fake teeth called as the winner. The centre girl was shocked but she couldn't not smile, so she stayed still. Smiling perfectly as her entire body went cold and tense with disappointment, all she had going through her mind was "how could this be?" And "where did I go wrong?" She felt she should've been the winner. She knew she should've been the winner, so why wasn't she the winner?
"And in second place, Miss Heidi Sokolov!" The older woman smiles as she puts a very small crown on top of the centre girl's perfectly styled and set hair. Heidi keeps smiling at the crowd. She was so upset to be in second place but she kept smiling anyway, as long as she smiled she would get what she wanted eventually.
"Thank you for an amazing pageant, you did wonderful!" A young blonde woman smiles down at Heidi, this woman was a famous supermodel and her pictures were splattered all across Russia, Heidi had looked up to her before the outcome of the pageant but now she looked at the supermodel in disdain and envy as she had chosen for the small girl with the fake teeth to be the winner of the pageant. Despite her anger, Heidi only smiled up at the model, her mother always told her that politeness is the best way to handle disappointment. "Thank you for the opportunity." Heidi smiles before she leaves the event hall.
Heidi walks to her family in the parking lot who were smiling proudly but they knew their daughter wasn't pleased with the second place outcome. "My princess you looked beautiful, you should've been placed first," cooed her father Lev, as he hugged his daughter and placed a small kiss on her forehead. "You will always be first in our eyes darling." Her mother Varya, pouted as she knelt down to Heidi's level. Heidi just nodded before putting her bags in the car. "Oh sweetheart don't be upset there is always next year," Varya sighed. "Well that's next year! This was my first pageant! I worked so hard for this! All to be thrown into second place!" Heidi sniffles. Heidi takes the small crown off her head and placed it onto the seat next to her as she wipes her eyes. "My sweetheart, this isn't the end of the world. I know you worked hard for this pageant and I know how defeat feels. And so does your mother. But all that matters is that you know you worked hard and that you're proud of yourself. And you know your mother and I are beyond proud of you." Lev says gently as he wipes his daughters face. Heidi looks at her father sadly but sniffles and nods. He was right that she should be proud of how hard she worked, but it still hurt to be placed second when she knew she did better than her competitors. "Now stop crying, my daughters don't get to cry on WWE nights!" He added as he closes Heidi's door and climbs into the driver seat. Heidi's eyes light up after hearing what he said. "Smackdown is on tonight!!" Squeals Heidi as she quickly puts her seatbelt on. "Hurry Papa we have to get home!!". Lev smiles as his wife gets in the car and he begins the drive home.
Heidi was the first one out of the car when her father pulled into their driveway. She dashed up the stairs to the front door and didn't hesitate to rush inside and go right to the TV room. Her older sisters Anastasia and Aurora, the twins of the family, were on the couch watching some reality show Heidi had no interest in. Heidi had tunnel vision on getting the TV remote and that's what she did.
"Hey Heidi how was your pa-HEY!! Heidi!! We don't want to watch wrestling!" Aurora complained as she tried to fight her little sister from getting the TV remote. Anastasia was no help and just giggled as she saw her sisters arguing. Heidi climbs over her older sister, digging her knees into her sister thighs as she snatched the remote from Aurora's hand. She won the battle for the remote and she instantly switched the channel to Thursday Night Smackdown. "Mama!!! Make her change the channel!" Whined Aurora. "You two have had the TV all day, let your sister and I enjoy our shows." Lev said sternly as he sat in his chair in front of the TV.
Heidi had yet to say a word to her sisters, she had won her battle for the remote and had parked herself on the carpet in front of the TV. Ever since she was a baby she watched professional wrestling, she was the youngest daughter in her family and this was how she bonded with her father. He tried to make all his girls watch wrestling with him but he only succeeded with Heidi. Heidi was enthralled by the flashy characters and the bright lights of wrestling! This and beauty pageants was what she lived off and lived for. It didn't matter who Heidi was watching, whether it was John Cena or Eddie Guerrero; wrestling was something she couldn't live without! She was in love with the world of sports entertainment!
"I'm gonna grow up to be the prettiest and best wrestler in the world. I want my name in the bright lights of WWE!" Heidi thought to herself.
"I'll become the WWE's first ever Tsarina!"
