Hey. I'm Ariel Winters, and I'm a Junior in High School, so I guess that makes me 17. I currently reside on the Oregon Coast, in Astoria to be precise. My house is one of the cozy ones in Mill Pond Village, blue on the outside, and blue on the inside. I attend Astoria High School, where pretty much everyone is obsessed with fishing. Oregon is gray. The beaches are gray. Sometimes the water is gray. I think that's why my mother insisted on blue all over the house. I'm not particularly pretty, my hair is kind of a dull nutty brown and my eyes similar to turmaline green, which isn't nearly as pretty as emerald. Okay, okay, enough of me.
I could tell this weekend would be a good one as soon as I saw the first beam of white sunlight streaming through my window. It reflected off of my aquamarine vase on my bedside table, and sent colorful light crystals floating around my room. I swung my legs off my bed, retreating my feet momentarily as they met with the cold wood floor. As soon as the chilliness of the ground was taken in comfortably by my toes, I walked to my bathroom and ran the shower. Multiple steam clouds rose from above the pale curtain, and as I stepped in my body was greeted with a stream of hot water. Yep, this weekend was gonna be good.
I toweled off my hair and tossed it into my hamper when I was out, standing by my closet completely nude. The comfortable 72 degrees of my home felt colder than usual against my bare skin, and I wanted to cover up as soon as I could. Seeing as it was sunny, I pulled out a pair of jeans and my favorite violet v-neck. It had become my favorite as soon as I bought it. The material it was made from was that kind that feels worn immediately, and is silky smooth to the touch. I pulled my outfit on over my underwear and bra, brushed out my hair and made sure to swipe on some mascara, so I didn't look absolutely terrifying going out. My toes wiggled at the end of each stair as I hopped down.
"Hey Ar!" My mom used my nickname as I pranced into the kitchen. "Hungry? Name anything, I'm feeling super-cheffy this morning."
"Cereal would be great." I laughed and kissed her cheek, reaching for the cupboard as she removed the milk from the fridge.
"Are you trying to kill my mood?" She faked a frown and poured my milk, sliding my bowl to where I was seated across the counter.
"Nah, I was just wanting to get out and enjoy the day. We don't see days like this too often." I shoveled generous amounts of Frosted Flakes into my mouth with my right hand, while using my left to text my best friend Ana:
Hang out now, grab lunch later?? (:
After pressing the send key, the familiar "swoooosh" of the text being sent sounded. I smiled. For some reason I loved that sound.
"Well alright then." The cereal box bounced up and down as my mom poured herself a bowl. "Oh! Before I forget. I was thinking of painting the front room. Should I do it Vintage Rose, Sunny Yellow, or Flaming Orange?"
I was already sipping at my milk. I swallowed a mouthful and replied, "Hm. I think all of them would look good. Maybe not the orange though, that might scare away visitors." I winked at her and placed my bowl in the sink. My phone dinged:
Ana:
Gurl yess. Meet me out front in like 20 minutes, imma walk over ahah ;)
I sent her a simple "k" and bounded back upstairs, deciding to put my hair up and realizing that I didn't grab any shoes. My hair was pretty dry by now, so I twisted it up into a messy bun and picked out my favorite pair of black Converse high tops. I made sure to grab my bag and wallet before going back downstairs, and out the door.
"Bye mom!" I shouted into the practically empty house, and when I didn't hear a reply, I shut the door. Ana was sitting on my front steps, dressed in a nautical skater dress and big red heart sunglasses. Very Ana. I giggled and pulled her up.
