MADYSEN SETTEL
MARCH 18, 2013.
my life was perfect everything grand. my family was rich, I was smart and beautiful.
that is until he walked into my life. it truly was perfect everyone in school loved me, girls wished they were me. I started seeing him when I was 15, in alleys, in closets, small places. it seemed impossible because he was so large.
I tried to tell people about the man in the suit. but they wouldn't listen, that and I didn't want to go to a mental hospital. so I kept my mouth shut I would cry and cry, I was on edge my breath was quick and fast.
he even spoke to me 'come to the woods I dare you' he constantly said. I didn't dare. all those stories of slender man killing people weren't stories to me they were truth. but one night I did go out. he was waiting, leaning against a tree. his long strange limbs, a black suit, tailored to perfection. I had never truly seen his features. he was staring at me but yet how is that possible, he had no eyes.
he pulled his long arm up and beckoned me closer with a wave. his arms came nearly to his knees, they must have been at least 5 feet. my feet were planted to the ground. I tried to scream but words wouldn't form in my dry mouth. he waved his hand again. then some sort of recognition came to him he held out his hand, waiting for me to take it. "no!" I screamed and ran as fast as I possibly could tears flying off my face in the process.
when I got to our house I slammed the door and locked the dead bolt. my mother was in making supper in the kitchen. she paid no attention to the distress I was in. I flew up the stairs and closed the door. I turned to flop on my bed and there he was sitting on the bed his legs crossed and his hands folded over them.
"you can't escape me," he says laughing. "what-" the words came out in sobs "what do you want from me!" he said nothing he turned and looked out the window. I glanced at myself through the mirror. my lips were blood red my face was tear stained, and my hair once in beautiful curls now straight and wind-blown. he patted the spot next to him. I edged to the side of the bed but I didn't sit down. he pointed out the window towards the woods that surrounded our house.
"you're one of those silent monsters aren't you" I whispered. he laughed lightly "a monster is to kind of of a word to give me." I looked out the window afraid to look at his faceless face. then for the first time I saw it. the trees they were covered with blood. they were sharper than I realized. I gasped and turned to him. I didn't want to believe it but there it was. I shut my eyes tight. " are you scared of me?" he whispered. I opened my eyes and the blood was gone.
"no" I said. "we'll you should be" be whispered.
he opened the window "where are you going?" I asked. "i'd tell you but then I'd have to kill you." he laughed. I climbed out the window after him and he was stalking his way through the trees. I ran to catch up with his long strides. he laughed yet again. "are you alone?" my question sounded moe abrupt than I'd planned. "yes" he answered simply. I should be running away but I felt so compelled to follow him.
he was out of sight in a second but reappeared as fast as he'd gone. he'd returned with a flower in hand. "why am I still alive?" it was a horrible question to ask but I asked anyways. "I don't truthfully know" he told me. in all my 19 years I had never felt so scared.
he laughed again and his cheeks turned up as if he was smiling. I smiled back. he stared down at me. "I'm not afraid to die, and I'm not afraid of you" he laughed and pulled a knife from his jacket. I was about to scream but he slit my throat.
I awoke in darkness I began to cry and reached for my face. my face smoother than ever had no bumps. I couldn't even feel my mouth, it all sunk in I had no face! light streamed on my face.he grabbed my new white hand and pulled me out of the dark hole. I began to cry but no tears came for I had no eyes. he held my hand but said nothing. I wasn't mad though I was amazed! I was slender, he was slender. I now understood why he had waited to kill me. he was waiting for an answer.
and I had said yes.
