Part V: Times of Peril

Third Person, Thalia centered

"One more time, drink some water we're almost done."

Hands placed on her knees the girl glared up at the woman, chest burning as she snatched the bottle away and began drinking it quickly. Sweat beaded on her forehead as she chugged the liquid, finally feeling relief for the first time since they stepped outside.

"I. Cannot. Breathe." She huffed voice raw as she tossed the bottle to the ground.

"You can breathe, that's the point we need to make sure you're recovering properly," she picked the bottle up nodding for her to start again.

Groaning she ran down the path again her legs aching as she jogged through the dirt and grass, running all the way down to the farthest tree she slowed to a stop heaving out a cough.

Straightening up she made her way around the tree and back to the woman, falling to the ground on her back when she finally reached the front of the house.

"Good job, you'll be set to leave in two days," Abbey squatted down beside the girl as she watched her chest rise and fall rapidly.

The girl closed her eyes also closing her mouth to breathe through her nose, sighing deeply she took the woman's hand as she lifted her off the ground. Legs shook as she stood up walking back into the house and heading straight for her room.

Inside she searched the mess for fresh clothes finally funded something that didn't smell too bad, pulling on her sneakers she grabbed her pack and promptly left the house.

The medical house was a while away from the rest of camp, a hood fifteen minute walk at least. All that stood in between were large trees with curvy branches that stuck out toward each other.

The grass was thick and long over this way, making it hard to see your feet through the blades.

Over the past few days she'd started to feel a lot better, her cough had cleared up and breathing wasn't much of a chore anymore. It was nice being able to walk more than ten feet from the bed before needing a mask, though the nightmares hadn't stopped.

She figured when the coughing was gone the nightmares stop too, but the day after her cough was gone she found herself being woken up by Abbey, apparently she had been screaming. Loud.

It was always the same, she'd be drowning and dying basically unable to see anything but pitch black.

So she hoped that going back home would help, being away from the water and the environment where everything happened.
