The sun went down the sky, turning it rosy pink and orange.
Whiteout looked out the window, seeing a black figure winging away to Clearsight's house. The ice-colored scales reflected the sunlight, in blinded Whiteout a little.
Little does he know, Whiteout thought sadly; Darkstalker's mind-reading was out of range, so she didn't have to worry. Clearsight has left for the lost continent. Forever.
Clearsight's mother answered the door. She looked slightly uncomfortable to see him. "Uh, ma'am?" Darkstalker broke the awkwardness, "Is everything...okay?"
"Ahem. Yes," Swiftwings smiled. Her mind was blank, and Darkstalker couldn't see anything. Strange. Darkstalker squinted. NOTHING. How? "Come on in. Clearsight left something for you." She fiddled with the tail ornament, made of gold and strange black stones embedded in sapphires and rubies.
Darkstalker attempted to look inside Clearsight's mother's mind again, all that was there was a soft, mesmerizing buzz. "What's that?" Darkstalker pointed at the ornament.
"Oh, this?" Clearsight's mother poked at it, warily eyeing Darkstalker as if he was going to take it after biting Swiftwings head with his maws. "It's um - a gift. F - from C - Clearsight."
"Alright," Darkstalker smiled, "Can I see what she left me, please?"
"Here," Swiftwings took a scroll of the dining table, handing it to Darkstalker. He unrolled the wax binding carefully.
