They looked at each other, hoping for someone to wake them up from that horrible nightmare.
But the nightmare was far from over.
The first tears still hadn't dried from Marissa's face when, among her friends' sobs, she heard a faint laugh.
Her mind suddenly became sharp and focused. She tried to locate where the sound was coming from. Was it from the walls? From under the bed?
No.
It was coming from her phone.
Adrenaline rushing, she pondered over whether she should wait for the police, or check it out herself. After a few moments, she cast aside all judgement, and gestured to her friends to follow her. Emm's phone was on her bedside table, but there was something off about it. As they approached, the laughing died down, and finally when they reached the phone it had stopped altogether. A nervous drop of sweat rolled down her face, as she approached it, poking the device with a spiked baseball bat she picked up off of Emm's bed. "Classic Emm," she thought, "why would you sleep with... this?" The phone flashed the dead battery symbol. The thin veil of control Marissa thought she had over the situation slipped away as she thought, "Clearly that couldn't be the case, right?" She picked up the phone, and gave it a look over. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Upon second glance of the area where the phone once resided, there was a note. The note had small drops of what appeared to be blood, and it read "look up." The girl stubbles back and hesitation filled her head as she slowly looks up to see a hole a dark, pitch black hole and out of that hole is dropped a dogs collar that says "Stace" on the front and splotchy red patches cover the grey ribbon. Marissa staying put, yet the other girls tremble backwards. Soon a loud bang comes from the hole and Marisa drops dead in a cold and bloody manner making the other girls run for their lives down the stairs, but in the attempt to escape, Maple gets shot in the leg making everyone fall down the stairs after her body, and soon land on top of it. Eventually reaching a standstill, Mallory, done with the whole ordeal jumped out the window, landing on the lawn safe and sound, but the others stayed frozen in fear. "Hurry up! Get down here!" yelled Mallory, frantically trying to get her remaining friends to follow. Suddenly a shrill laugh pierced the air, fading away, along with any other trace of the girls. Peering back inside, they were gone.
