The Glee club gathered in the choir room on Monday:

"Alright guys, we have three weeks left until the end of the school year. I know for some of you seniors, it's a bit bittersweet, as you'll soon be taking the next step into a bright future. I know some of you are dead nervous about what's in store for all of you, but look at it not as a challenge, but as an adventure and a journey to behold. One door opens, another one closes, and one chapter ends, another one begins." Will explained. "With that in mind, here's this week's theme: friendship; I want you to explain how much friendship means to you in a song and the group you'll be selecting songs from this week is: Matchbox 20.

"Good luck, and remember, your assignment is due by Friday as always." Will stated. With that, the bell rang and the Glee club dispersed. "Hey Scott, can I talk to you and Marley in the art room?" Kitty asked. "Sure." Scott replied nicely.

Scott, Marley, & Kitty walked into the art room and began to talk:

"What's on your mind Kitty?" Scott asked. Kitty hesitated, then explained. "I...I just realized how much the gift of friendship means to me." She said. "Did this week's topic strike a chord with you?" Marley asked. "Yes; truth to tell, I didn't have many friends growing up. Remember I transferred schools and I never felt I would gain acceptance anywhere. I changed my whole attitude, outlook, and style. I admit, I probably wish I didn't, because I became a bitch and was despised by a lot of people. But then you came along Marley, and something wonderful happened. You opened up my heart again. You taught me kindness, selflessness, and more importantly, the gift of forgiveness and friendship. I've said "I'm sorry" many times to you, but I don't think I've ever once said thank you for everything you've done for me." Kitty said with happy tears starting to fall from her eyes. "You don't have to. Your eyes always tell me." Marley said nicely. Kitty smiled back and the two girls embraced each other. "What does friendship mean to you Scott?" Marley asked. "I don't know, but I'm sure I'm going to find out and have an answer for you by the end of the week." Scott stated. "That's understandable." Marley replied nicely.

Kitty then started to sing, the scene then transitions to her singing in Glee club practice on Tuesday:

(She said) I don't know if I've ever been good enough
I'm a little bit rusty, and I think my head is caving in
And I don't know if I've ever been really loved
By a hand that's touched me, well I feel like something's
Gonna give
And I'm a little bit angry, well

This ain't over, no not here, not while I still need you
Around
You don't owe me, we might change
Yeah we just might feel good

I wanna push you around, I will, I will
I wanna push you down, I will, I will
I wanna take you for granted, I wanna take you for granted
I will

(She said) I don't know why you ever would lie to me
Like I'm a little untrusting when I think that the truth is
Gonna hurt ya
And I don't know why you couldn't just stay with me
You couldn't stand to be near me
When my face don't seem to want to shine
'Cause it's a little bit dirty, well

Don't just stand there, say nice things to me
'Cause I've been cheated I've been wronged, and you
You don't know me, well I can't change
I won't do anything at all

I wanna push you around, I will, I will
I wanna push you down, I will, I will
I wanna take you for granted, I wanna take you for granted
I will

Oh but don't bowl me over
Just wait a minute well it kinda fell apart, things get so
Crazy, crazy
Don't rush this baby, don't rush this baby

I wanna push you around, I will, I will
I wanna push you down, I will, I will
I wanna take you for granted, I wanna take you for granted
I will

The Glee club applauded Kitty's performance. "Nice job Kitty, but I have to ask. What inspired you to sing that song?" Will asked. "This song is about the power of perseverance and about the importance of never giving up on your dreams. It's also about someone who is struggling to achieve their goals but finds the strength to keep going through their friendship." Kitty explained. "Nice song choice." Will stated. The Glee club all nodded in agreement.

"Can I sing a song today Mr. Schue?" Marley asked. "Sure, the floor is yours." Will replied nicely. Marley stood up and began to address the Glee club. "This song is about the importance of being there for your friends, even when they are at their lowest. It's about someone who is struggling with a difficult situation but finds comfort in their friends; My biggest struggle was when I had my eating disorder, but thanks to the help of my friends, I was able to overcome it and I'm better for it now." Marley explained. She then cleared her throat and began to sing:

She said, "It's cold outside" and she hands me a raincoat
She's always worried about things like that
She said, "It's all gonna end and it might as well be my fault"

And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams, and her voice is straining

And she says, "Baby, it's 3 AM, I must be lonely"
And she says, "Baby, well, I can't help
But be scared of it all sometimes
And the rain's gonna wash away, I believe this"

She's got a little bit of something, God, it's better than nothing
And in her color portrait world she believes that she's got it all
She swears that the moon don't hang quite as high as it used to

And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams and her voice is straining

And she says, "Baby, when it's 3 AM I must be lonely"
Well, heaven she says, "Baby, well, I can't help
But be scared of it all sometimes
And the rain's gonna wash away, I believe this"

Well, she believes that life isn't made up of all that you're used to
And the clock on the wall has been stuck at 3 for days and days
She thinks that happiness is a mat that sits on her doorway
But outside it's stopped raining

And she says, "Baby, It's 3 AM I must be lonely"
Well, heaven she says, "Baby, well, I can't help
But be scared of it all sometimes
And the rain's gonna wash away, I believe this"
Well, it's 3 AM, I must be lonely
Well, heaven she says, "Baby, well, I can't help
But be scared of it all sometimes"

The Glee club applauded Marley's performance. "Nice job Marley." Will stated. With that, the bell rang. "O.k. guys, nice day of practice. More to come tomorrow." Will stated.
