My mind is racing as I finally pull away from Connor's grasp. I take a deep breath and smile. He returns the smile willingly and says,
"Well I should probably get going. I'll text you later." He stands up and heads towards the door.
"Okay," I say blushing. I get up from the bed and walk over to him. I open the door and watch as he walks away, and I quickly close the door.
Brianna groans and I get snapped back into reality. I head over to the bathroom and open the door. The smell of vomit and alcohol flood my nose. I clutch my nose with my hand and walk over to where Brianna is passed out on the floor. I nudge her with my foot, which doesn't make a difference. She is completely knocked out. I flush the foul smell down the toilet and get a blanket to cover Brianna. I would take her to her bed, but lets face it, I'm not strong enough to lift her. I tiredly crawl into bed and pass out almost instantaneously.
I wake up the next morning in a daze. My head is pounding so I pop a few painkillers and lay back down in bed. I turn over on my side and see the light on my phone has lighten up. I check it to see 3 new text messages. Has Connor texted me already? I unlock my phone,
"Hey its Tyler. Remember me?" The first one reads. I scroll to the next text.
"I want to get together tonight. I can't stand not seeing your face." Another text from Tyler. That's a little weird, I don't even really know him, and he's already longing to see my face again? I scroll once more to the last text,
"Hey Kaitlin. I hope everything went alright last night. Say good morning to Brianna if she ever wakes up!" Its from Connor. I laugh to myself and reply,
"Everything went well. I'll be sure to poke her just for you." I get up finally and drink a glass of water. The door handle to the bathroom turns, and Brianna tumbles out. I stare at her. She looks up at me with squinted, tired eyes, and frazzled hair,
"What happened last night?" She says. I can't help myself, I burst out laughing. She gives me a confused look. I help her over to a chair and hand her some water.
"Well, dinner was a wreck. You kept trying to set Connor and I up, and I got annoyed and left-"
"You left me alone with Connor?" She says.
"Yeah, sorry. You got really drunk and so I went to a bar down the street and actually met a guy there. I felt bad for leaving though so I came back here and Connor was here, and you were in the bathroom throwing up your guts."
She smiles slightly,
"You met a guy?"
My face turns red and I start rambling on,
"Yes, and it was amazing. But none of that matters because I came back here and I saw how tired and awful Connor looked and we kissed; twice actually."
Her jaw drops to the ground,
"You're kidding right? You kissed the awkward, quiet kid you were complaining about 2 days ago?"
"Yes, but I don't think it meant anything. I don't want to be anything more than friends. I need to text Tyler back anyway," I say. She raises an eyebrow,
"Okay, I'm confused. You kissed him, and you think it means nothing? Why don't you just forget Tyler?"
"It didn't mean anything! And I'm going out with Tyler tonight," I say. According to his text anyway. I still haven't replied.
She gives me a strange look and shakes her head,
"Well at least I tried."
I don't even know if Tyler still wants to do dinner tonight. I never even replied to his text from earlier this morning. I pull out my phone quickly and reply,
"Sure I'd love to get together tonight! Want to meet at the restaurant down the street from the bar at 8?"
"Absolutely, see you then :)" he says.
I slide my phone into my pocket and walk to the door, on my way to another day of boring schoolwork.
"You coming this time Brianna?" I say smiling.
"I'm hungover. What do you think?" She says. I laugh, grab my stuff and head out the door.
