Frigid water shocked me awake. I shot up in my bed. My oversized t-shirt clung to me as I shivered. My eyes met a girl my age, tall, slim, and Instagram pretty. She held a now empty bucket in her perfectly manicured hands with a smug grin on her face. Behind her, I saw a dark-skinned teen dressed in his pajamas as well. His eyes were vacant of any emotions avoiding my gaze entirely. His big stature leaned against the entrance of my room not paying any attention to the scene before him.

"I thought I would give you the honor of waking you up myself." Her smile faltered as her tone flattened. "The alpha is supposed to come back with the rest of the pack tonight. I want you to have everything set up before nightfall. Try not to fuck this up." She gave me a cold smile, "Got it?"

I inhaled sharply before replying with a snarky smile. "Got it."

Quinn strode out of my room, past the silent guy.

My attention turned to Roman as he finally moved away from the door frame. Our eyes met. He looked like he wanted to say something. But he decided against it. Instead, he left me alone, closing the door behind him gently.

"Good morning to you too, bro," I muttered to myself.

I pulled my soaked blanket off my body and sprung up from my bed. Guess laundry is now added to my to-do list. Rolling my eyes I went downstairs and outback to the small rundown bath house. It used to be our guest bathroom, but now I'm the only one that uses it. It was pawned off to me shortly after I was pushed into the attic. No one wanted to use the bathroom after a sad excuse of a wolf. As I did my morning routine I created a mental note of all the things I had to get done today. I slipped on my old favorite pair of jeans and flannel top that was way too big, over my black tank. I tied my coily hair into some kind resemblances of a bun. I glanced at myself in the mirror. I nibbled on the bottom of my lip averting my eyes. It doesn't matter how I look anyway.

Now it was time to get to work. First I had to make breakfast for the house. I made my usual breakfast spread. And I threw in my special blueberry muffins in the mix. Once I placed the last plate on the table, people began to come down. That was my cue to start on laundry. While that was going on I dusted the furniture and antiques, wiped the windows, scrubbed the bathrooms and kitchen's floors, beat the dust out of the rugs, and vacuum the carpet. Then I finished the laundry and placed the freshly folded clothes on the beds of the respectable rooms. I reheated the leftover chicken and made sandwiches out of them. I went back up to the attic to grab the decoration boxes and brought them outside. It took about four trips up and down the stairs.

I headed back inside to check the time. It's almost 2, so I still have time to go into town to get some groceries. I grabbed my reusable bag from my room. I came back to the dining room to find Roman clearing the table from lunch. I bit the corner of my lower lip as I approached him.

"I finished setting up for the party."

He kept his focus on collecting the plates. "That's good."

"C...Could you drop me off at the bus stop?"

Roman shook his head. "Can't. Training is in fifteen minutes."

"Right," I breathed. "Sorry to bother you." My voice grew small.

The bus stop was at least 5 miles from here. I trudged deep into the woods before I began to strip. I shoved the clothes into my bag. Taking a deep breath, I cleared my mind letting my wolf take form. The sound of bones snapping filled my ears. I screamed at the familiar pain. My claws peered out, my fangs sprouted, my silky black mane grew, and my eyes changed colors. I see her and we become connected. We become one. I relished this moment. I can feel every part of me morphing into her. Into a gorgeous, majestic, and fierce creature. Everything I'm not. Dropping onto all fours in my new form, I picked up my bag with my teeth. With that, I made my way to the bus stop. The number of times I'm able to change is few so whenever I have the chance I allow her, myself to have a field day. My family used to go on runs with the rest of the pack when the full moon was up. Now I run alone. When I got closer to the bus stop I shifted back and put on my clothes. On cue, the bus pulled up at the stop as I emerged from the trees. I took a seat in the front after paying and greeting the driver. Finally, I could take a breath as I soaked in the green scenery until I reached the nearest town.
