in which - y/n realized how much they like Jonah and try to figure out how to tell him

based heavily on Fearless by Taylor Swift. Enjoy!

I have known Jonah for a while now. After our initial meeting on set for a movie a while back, we instantly hit it off. After almost a year of knowing each other, we have gotten really close. As friends. Well, up until a week ago, when I realized how much I liked him, like, liked him.  And tonight, I'm going to tell him.

A WEEK EARLIER

"That movie was amazing y/n." Jonah said. As we walked out of the theater, he handed me his jacket to use as a makeshift umbrella as we made our way to his car. I took it from him and held it over my head. I gave him a glance and a nod as we both began to race through the parking lot to his car.

"Hah! I won, as always." I said. He laughed in defeat. I glanced around at the pouring rain and as I saw Jonah standing there, I noticed things about him I hadn't noticed before. His warm smile, the perfect curls in his hair, now wet with rain of course, and his deep blue eyes. Something's changed about him, or maybe, somethings changed in me.

I smirked at him as I opened the car door and placed myself in the leather seat. I shut my door as he walked around to the drivers seat. I took a moment to breathe and shake off the thought of anything happening between us. But then again, the thought didn't seem too awful. He opened the car door and sat down. He started the car and turned the radio up.

"So you liked the movie?" I asked.

"Yeah, it was really great, and the rainy weather really ties into the autumn-feel of the movie." He said. I looked out the window again out at the rain drops on the window.

"Agreed. I loved the scene where they danced in the rain. That has got to be one of my favorite things to happen in romance movies."

"Really?" He said, eyes still fixed on the road ahead. I hummed in agreement.  I took notice to his soaking wet jacket in the backseat.

"Sorry about that.."

"Don't even worry. "

I was back in the same carseat again. We were going to the beach together to play some volleyball and meet up with a few friends. We took his car again, this time with the roof down. It had gone from rainy to sunny in just one day. I noticed myself constantly glancing over at Jonah and noticing everything about him all over again. He took his hand off the wheel and ran it through his curls. I melted deeper into my seat at the sight. He was so amazing. So cool. Does he even know that he is taunting me?

"What are you looking at?" He asked. I immediately looked down at the floor of the car after he noticed me staring at him.

"Nothing." I said, trying to keep cool and not show my embarrassment. I felt my cheeks turn hot red.

"Are you sure?" He questioned again. He smirked and looked back at the road. I glanced up at the ocean getting closer to us as we approached the beach.

After a long day at the beach, we were finally on our way home. The sun was setting as we drove away from the beach. We were nearing my house but I told him to drive slower, so that the song in the car could finish.  He laughed at me, but accepted the request.  He was doing loops around my neighborhood. He finally pulled into my driveway but the song hadn't finished so I made him stay put. I put my hand over his chest so he would stay still, but he removed it.

"What did you do that for?" I asked. He laughed and looked over at me. Not a glance this time, his eyes were on me. I looked over at him and it seemed like the perfect picture. I wanted to freeze this moment and frame it. Capture it and remember it. It was the longest anything like this had ever gone on. I looked away as the song ended.

"No reason." He stuttered. It must have been awkward for him too. I thanked him for the ride and stepped out of the car. I walked up to my door as I heard the car reverse out of my driveway. As soon as I closed the door I slid down my door in happy oblivion. I can't believe the way he looked at me. I went to bed the most content I had all week.

Sunday

time stamp: 8:43 PM

Today was the day I was going to tell Jonah how I feel. I wasn't sure how, or what he was going to say, but I had to say something. I couldn't keep my feelings bottled up like this for much longer. I had asked him to come over because he "forgot something." He said that he was on his way, so he was going to be here any minute now. I took a deep breath. I heard a loud boom of thunder, it had started raining again. The weather had been on and off all week, and of course it would be no help. I normally loved the rain, but not on nights like this. I stood by the door, thinking, until a loud knock snapped me back into reality.

It was him.

I opened the door and the sight of him made me instantly nervous. I felt my hands shaking and my breath quivering. He leaned against the doorway with a smirk on his face.

"Hey Jonah." I said, trying to play cool. He nodded at me, and stared down at me. He eyes wandered up and down my body and then finally up to my lips. I wasn't sure what he was doing.  I didn't have much time to think as he pulled me close to him and touched his lips to mine. I was in shock, and stood there still, but as he slowly pulled away I pulled him back to me. I had finally accepted what was actually happening to me, and it felt like a dream. It was the first kiss, and there was nothing wrong with it, it was flawless. He finally pulled away. We looked at each other and we both laughed.

"You're really fearless you know." I said. "That was bold of you."

"Yeah but we both know you wanted it. I've noticed you this past week." He said. My cheeks turned red again. The thunder boomed again and we both turned our heads to look out at the pouring rain. I could tell he had gotten an idea. "May I have this dance?" He asked. He bowed down and held his hand out for me to take.

"In this pouring rain?" I asked. He nodded his head. I thought about it for a moment before finally agreeing. I took his hand and we ran into the downpour. He twirled me around as we both laughed and spun together. It was officially the best night of my life. It really was fearless.
