I pushed open the door to my sister Belly's room, a warm smile gracing my lips.
"Belly, you in here?" I called, my voice tinged with curiosity.
Belly turned away from her vanity mirror, her makeup brush hovering in the air. A surprised grin spread across her face as she caught sight of me. "Hey, come on in." She put the brush down and turned toward me.
My gaze traveled over her outfit, and a knowing smile tugged at the corners of my lips. Belly was rocking a cute crop top that flashed a hint of her midriff, paired with some short jeans that accentuated her long, toned legs. It was effortless for her to radiate beauty, even as she fussed over her makeup.
"Getting all dolled up, huh?" I teased, leaning casually against the door frame.
Belly chuckled, a blush touching her cheeks. "Yeah, you caught me. Just getting ready for a date tonight."
My eyebrows quirked in curiosity. "Oh, really? And who's the lucky guy?"
A mischievous glint danced in Belly's eyes. "His name's Cam. We've been talking for a while, and we thought it was time to take things to the next level."
My eyes widened in surprise. "Cam? The boy from the bonfire? Why didn't you clue me in on this?"
Belly's grin softened into a gentle smile. "Honestly, I wasn't sure where it was headed. But now that it's happening, I couldn't keep it to myself any longer."
I crossed my arms, playfully narrowing my eyes. "You sly fox. So, spill the details. What's the plan for tonight?"
Belly chuckled. "We're going to a drive-in movie and watching one of my favorite old films."
My grin matched hers, my heart warming at her excitement. "Well, you look incredible, Belly. Cam is in for a treat."
Belly's cheeks tinged pink, and she picked up her makeup brush again, pretending to focus on her task. "Thanks, Lissy. Your approval means a lot."
I stepped further into the room, watching Belly with affection. "You know, Belly, I'm here for you, right? If you ever need advice or just someone to talk to about this stuff, I've got your back."
Belly's gaze met mine in the mirror, and her smile turned tender. "I know, sis. And I appreciate that more than you know."
I reached out and playfully tousled her hair, a fond expression on my face. "Now, go knock his socks off and have a blast tonight. But don't stay out too late."
Belly chuckled, swatting at my hand in a playful manner. "I promise not to push my luck. Thanks, Lissy."
As I turned to leave, I paused at the doorway and glanced back at Belly. "Oh, and Belly?"
"Yeah?"
My smile turned into a mischievous grin. "If he turns out to be a dud, remember I'm just a text away to swoop in and rescue you, okay?"
Belly burst into laughter, shaking her head. "Oh, believe me, I won't hesitate to use that lifeline if necessary. Thanks, Lissy."
As Belly finished getting ready and we headed toward the front door, a surge of excitement pulsed through me. It was another night of fun and endless possibilities.
Belly's charm shone brightly as she bid her farewells, catching Jeremiah's eye in the process. "Damn!" he exclaimed, dropping the controller and hurrying over to join us. His gaze was locked onto Belly, clearly impressed by her appearance.
