The Pestering

"Good Morning Anu Bhaiyya!!" said Garima (GS), trying to gain her cousin's attention... "Good Morning bachcha..." AS wished back still engrossed in his tablet... "Anu baba... aapki coffee..." Abdul Chacha (AB) said placing a mug on the table... "Thank you chacha..." AS replied without sparing a glance, still busy... "Waise bhaiyya... aapne woh nayi car dekhi jo kal Audi ne launch ki??" Siddhant (SD), AS's other cousin asked... "Hmm... dekhi... achi hai... Do you want it??" AS asked while typing in his tablet... SD did not reply, he didn't want that car after all; he wanted his cousin's attention but failed in gaining it, so he looked at the other end of the table defeated... At the other end sat the matriarch of the Singh family, AS's mother, Indrani Singh (IS)... She gestured towards her sister-in-law Janaki (JS), AS's aunt, who was sitting on her left to speak next... "Anu beta... coffee thandi ho jayegi..." JS said after denying at first... "Ji Chachi... bas do minute..." AS replied... "Aur paratha de tumhe??" JS asked again... "Ji nahi... humara ho gaya hai..." AS replied unaware of all the gesturing and attempts to gain his attention going on across the table... JS poked GS who was sitting on her left to do something... GS took a deep breath and braced herself before speaking... "Anu bhaiyya... itni der se aap kya dekh rahe hai??" GS asked... "Woh hum Stock Market ka performance dekh rahe hai..." AS replied finally looking at GS... "Maine aapko message mei kuch bheja hai... ek baar check toh kariye..." GS said sheepishly after successfully gaining AS's attention... "Acha... dekhte hai..." AS replied and pulled his phone out...

GS and SD got up from their chairs and went and stood behind AS looking into his phone as he opened the message... Pictures of a beautiful lady displayed on his screen... "Kaisi hai??" GS asked excited... AS looked at each of his family members; curiosity and excitement written all over their faces... He got up and put his jacket on... "Maa... aapke plan mei ab aapne sabhi gharwalon ko shamil karna shuru kar diya?? Pareshaan ho gaye hai hum aapke roz roz ke dramo se..." he said... "Aap badi muma ko kyu daant rahe hai bhaiyya... Unke saath saath hum sab bhi chahte hai ke aap shaadi kar lo..." GS whined... "Aur nahitoh kya... aapki umar bhi nikalti jaa rahi hai bhaiyya... dekhiye na kitni beautiful hai woh tasveerwali ladki... haan keh dijiye..." SD pitched in... "Itni hi beautiful lag rahi hai toh tum kyu nahi kar lete usse shaadi... Humari bali kyu chadhai jaa rahi hai??" AS taunted... "Aapki shaadi hogi tabhi toh mera number lagega..." SD complained... "Aisi koi baat nahi hai... Chachi... karwa dijiye in janab ki shaadi... bade utavle hai..." AS said... "Are aise kaise?? Bada bhai kuwara ho toh chote ki shaadi nahi karate... Karlo na... Itna acha ghar hai, karobar bhi acha chal raha hai... pichle mahine tumhe woh businessman wala puraskar bhi mila hai... ab samay aa gaya hai ke tumhe kar leni chahiye shaadi..." JS said... "Chachi aap bhi inki team mei shamil ho gayi?" he asked surprised... "Woh baat nahi hai Anu beta..." JS tried to explain... "Aap toh samajhiye Chachi... hume abhi nahi karni shaadi..." he said... "Lekin..." JS tried to reason when... "Rehne do Janaki... Humari khushiyon ki kisiko kaha padi hai... karne do ise apni manmani..." IS said sadly...

"Maa... aap bhul jaati hai hum aapke bete hai... aap jaise hume achi tarah janti hai... hum bhi jante hai aap kab sach mei udas hai aur kab natak kar rahi hai..." he said with determination... IS smiled sheepishly... "Good Morning Sir..." said Aman (AM), AS's executive secretary... "Good Morning..." AS replied... "Sir aaj ka schedule..." AM began... "Not now... jo batana hai raste mei batana... hum yaha aur nahi rukna chahte... " AS cut AM in between... AS left the dining area and walked towards the main entrance... "Anu bhaiyya... rukiye toh..." GS rushed behind him... He was halted in his path by GS and SD... "Kya hai??" AS asked irritated... "Ek sawal hai... shaadi se problem kya hai aapko??" SD asked... "Yeh kaisa sawal hai??" AS asked... "Bataiye na... kya problem hai shaadi karne se??" GS asked... "Haan haan Anu... aaj bata hi do..." JS said... "Batao na..." IS also pushed AS to answer... "Problem kuch nahi... Hume pehle puchne toh do..." AS said irritated and quickly realized his slip of tongue... "Puchna kisse hai??" JS asked confused while others eyed AS suspiciously... "Kisi... kisise nahi... woh... woh hum keh rahe the pehle sochne toh do ache se... aapne shayad galat suna..." AS covered up... "Acha??" JS asked still confused... "Hum chalte hai... I am getting late..." AS said and hurried out...

"Siddu Bhaiyya... aapne bhi 'puchna' hi suna na??" GS asked SD "Haan... maine bhi 'puchna' hi suna..." SD replied... "Humne bhi..." IS seconded... AM was trying to figure out what exactly did he hear... He looked around and saw the family looking at him suspiciously... "Maa... mujhe kuch nahi pata... sach keh raha hu... mujhe toh yeh bhi nahi pata maine kya suna..." AM stuttered... "Aman!!!" AS called out... AM thanked his stars and ran at the speed of lightening... "Badi muma... kuch toh baat hai... Bhaiyya kuch chupa rahe hai..." SD said... "Sahi kaha Siddu..." IS said... "Toh pata lagaye??" SD asked with a twinkle in his eyes... "Nahi..." GS said fearfully... "Aap jo soch rahe ho woh agar bhaiyya ko pata chala toh hum sab gaye kaam se..." GS said... "Lekin pata kaise chalega??" SD asked... "Mummy bata dengi... kuch nahi chupati woh Anu bhaiyya se... Aur fir Abdul chacha bhi hai..." GS whispered... "Abdul chacha ko mai sambhal lunga... Mummy ka hi kuch karna padega..." SD whispered back... IS was listening to the conversation while JS was busy thinking about what she had just heard... "Janaki... Chalo mandir ho aate hai..." IS said holding JS's hand... She gestured towards the siblings to go ahead with their plan and dragged JS with her before she could protest... The siblings rushed upstairs while planning ways to distract AB...

"Aman humne kaha tha aaj 6 baje ke baad koi meeting nahi hogi..." AS reprimanded AM "Lekin sir aaj ki meeting ke liye khas Finance Minister ke office se call aaya tha... Maine kal ke liye reschedule karne ki koshish ki lekin kal possible nahi hai..." AM replied... "You had an entire day... fir 6.30 ko hi kyu??" AS asked irritated... "Sir bas wahi slot available tha aaj ke calendar mei..." AM replied... AS sighed... He could not miss this meeting... But he had another appointment at 7.30 which he could not disclose to AM yet... AM didn't dare to speak any further as AS got lost in his thoughts for the rest of the journey to his office...
