( flashback )

PHOENIX HEARD THE SOUND of knocks coming from his door, and that quickly caught his attention because it was about two in the morning and there was also rain pouring. He didn't answer the knocking that came since he just assumed that his mother would answer, but then he realized that she might've been sleeping, so he cursed to himself while he made his way to the kitchen with irritation clear on his face before he pushed his hand out, placing it on one of the little knobs until he pulled his arm back to reveal a drawer full of knives.

He grabbed the first one he saw with a quick sigh before he shut the drawer and turned on his heel, his steps low as he finally came face to face with the door in front of him. The whole thing felt eerie to him, but he knew that he was usually paranoid that someone or something had to be watching him at all times, so it wasn't anything new to him, "Who is it??"

"It's me..." Augusts voice was muffled behind the door, and that was the last thing Phoenix was expecting to hear, but all he did was shrug to himself before he took more steps towards the door, his hand shooting out to the door knob once again, pulling it back so the door was finally cracking open to reveal a darker haired ginger that looked absolutely soaked from the rain.

"What are you doing here? It's late and it's raining." Phoenixes voice was almost stern towards the redhead, but he still turned to the side so the other boy could take a few steps, his wet sneakers hitting against his wooden floor.

He was pacing all through his house with his hands balled up into fists and his heart thumping hard in his chest. He was so upset and he needed a friend with him right now, so Phoenix was the closest he was going to get with that, "I... I.. I don't know.. I just c-came here, uhhh... m-my mom... she's-"

"She's doing drugs again?" He cut the other male off with an eye roll and an annoyed tone in his voice, gaining most of the redheads attention as he just shut the door behind himself.

August knew that he could be gullible sometimes, but he didn't think that his mother would turn on him so quickly. He actually thought she'd be there to care for him and love him, but no, he was wrong. She was out doing exactly what she said she wouldn't, "Y-Yes... She.. she promised me that she'd stop...!!"

"And how many times has she promised you that one?" Phoenix hummed to the male that was already growing furious with him because he could never tell when he was supposed to read the room at times.

"Phoenix...! I don't need you to judge me right now...!! I- I need a friend...! Why do you think I came here in the first place...?! I don't.. I don't want to l-listen to all of your bull crap!" He was actually pissed off with the raven haired teen, and he thought it'd be best to make sure that was clear so that he would finally stop making fun of him.

All the taller teen could do was stand there with the knife on his hand while a low chuckle flowed past his mouth, "Hah, you said bull crap."

Furrowing his eyebrows at the irrelevant mention of the smallest part of his little speech, the redhead tilted his head to the side, causing a little bit of the rain to drip down onto the ground as he watched the way his friend tossed the knife away, "What...? Why does that matter...?!"
