"Finally, Pete. Take the money."

"No."

It's probably hard for these two to imagine that two years ago they were sure: we love each other so much that we will never die. Like our infinite feeling. But everything has changed. Just a lot of love was not enough. The boat of their possible happiness crashed on the rocky shores of harsh reality.

"Don't be silly, huh?" the alpha, gloomier than a thundercloud, moves the bills closer to the pale omega,  "who will feel better from your stubbornness? Who, Pete?"

"I don't need anything from you, Vegas. Take your money back," the omega answers quietly, pretending that looking at the napkin holder on their table is the most exciting activity in the world.

"Ah, I got it! Got it!" the alpha's lower lip is shaking with indignation. "This is such a sort of revenge, right? After all, you know that with your stupid decision you will stand like a bone across my throat for the rest of your life! Such a way, even at a distance, but still keep me near you?! So that I couldn't breathe freely, right?!"

"No. As I said, I don't need anything from you."

"Hah, well, it's now! Then you will sing in a completely different way!"

"No. No, Vegas. I won't bother you now or ever in the future. Don't worry about that."

"Fuck! No, seriously! I just can't understand, it doesn't fit in my head! Okay, I can imagine this if I found out before the breakup, but we haven't been together for a month. Why do you need such a fucking "gift" from an ex? Well, tell me?!"

Pete looks out the window, where in the distance, because of the suffocating heat, the hills look deceptively like white elephants.* Longing trembles in his eyes. But he's coping with himself:

"It doesn't matter, Vegas. For you, for sure. Live in peace. I will never dare to interfere. I give you my word."

"Oh, damn!" Vegas gets up so abruptly out of anger that he almost knocks over the table, "you should at least think about your grandparents! In the declining years, you will "please" them so much! And your studies?! You're twenty, Pete! Why ruin your life if everything is solved within half an hour? Yeah, how could I ever fall in love with such a stupid thing. In short, for the very last time I ask, will you take the money?"

Pete finally gathers the courage and looks him in the eye:

"I won't."

"Okay. Bye," the alpha grabs the money and flies out of the cafe like a bullet, almost sweeping away a couple more tables on his way.

"Dad, just don't worry!"

"Uh, it's when you start a conversation like that, I worry the most."

Pete has had a bad feeling since the morning. In addition, he has missed breakfast and now his stomach aches. Even his boss, noticing the omega's unhealthy appearance, offered him to take a paid day off, but Pete, thanking him, refused. And now he receives a call from his fourteen-year-old alpha son, who does not start the conversation in the best way.

"In short. I was cut off on the highway by one ass... one alpha on his wheelbarrow. But... Dad, calm down! I'm fine. Anyway, I'm in a hospital... in a private..."

"What?!" Pete's heart sinks to his knees. "Do you have fractures?! Concussion?! Or..."

"Dad! Stop already, huh?! I told you, it's okay. A couple of scratches, well, I broke my knee. Most importantly, he promised to patch up the bike at his own expense, so you won't need to spend money. Well, he brought me to the hospital, too."

"Who is he?! How old is he?! Does he even realize that he has committed a crime?!"

"Uh-uh, it's started... Dad, let's calm down there and, if you can, come quickly. This dude wants to settle everything with you in a peaceful way, well, like, no complaints on our part, he takes care of all the expenses for medical care and repair of the motorbike. Like I said. He's even ready to give us extra money. It wouldn't hurt us, would it?"

Pete runs his eyes over the monitor, not thinking clearly while his brain processes the information he has just heard.

It takes him forty minutes to get to that private clinic. In a hurry, he clings to the door with the edge of the polo and almost tears it. The fluttering heart barely has time to calm down when he sees Venice unharmed.

"Thank Heaven! Venice!" Pete grabs his son's cheeks, anxiously examining him. "How are you? Where does it hurt? Are you feeling dizzy?"

"Dad! Well, you're like always! I told you: everything is fine with me," Venice smiles condescendingly and shakes his head.

"I have no one but you, son... how would I live if something happened to you?.."

"Nothing happened, did it? Well? That's it. Let's go, this dude on BMW will soon poop out of impatience."

"Venice!"

"Oh, okay, okay, let's put it all down to my stress. At least don't bring me up today, okay?"

And again the stupid, gnawing feeling inside. Even on the way to the reception desk, Pete feels his knees weaken.

And then he stumbles at all.

And with the ends, the alpha's substituted hands do not allow him to collapse on the floor in time. But not his son's hands.

Heaven... why?

Watching the silent scene between the two adults and the stunned look on their faces, Venice decides to intervene:

"Hey, hey, take it easy here!" he snatches dad out of the stranger's hands, "if you think that he came here without a husband, so there is no other alpha in his life?"

In response, they are still silent. Both.

"Okay. Solve all the formalities quickly. And let's go home already, Dad. I'm hungry."

Pete is the first to recover. Grabs his son by the hand and almost forcibly drags him along, chattering on the move:

"Listen to me, Venice! I will find you money to repair the vehicle and now I will pay all the expenses at the clinic... but that.. from him... not a single baht! Do you hear me?! We won't take any baht, neither you nor I!"

"Why, Dad?! It's his fault! Let him fork out!"

"No! Let's get out of here!"

"Dad, what happened? Do you know each other? Some former colleague? Harassed you? So you tell me, I'll serve him right, he'll be collecting his teeth on the ground for two hours."

"No! We don't know each other, do you understand? But... but we don't need handouts from anyone. That's it! Today we are doing as I said. Do you understand me?"

Venice puffs out his cheeks, but follows Dad. And still does not understand why it was necessary to deny compensation from that rich asshole.
