Eons ago, at the birth of the universe, there existed beings that possessed great power, comparable to celestial divinity, known by many as the Io. They dominated to the cosmos, shaping it to their will through the use of mythical engines of unimaginable power that made gods, the Origins, and creating great beings to serve as custodians over this new universe.
In time, with their great work done, the Io faded into legend and myth, only leaving remnants scattered across space, but the influence of the fabled 'originals' can still be felt on any world and in any civilization.
Now the cosmos are divided, with various powers warring for supremacy. Those in power hunt for the legacy of the Io in hope of reaching the heights of gods.
