Kim Yongsun and Moon Byulyi have been friends for as long as they can remember. It was inevitable because their families are close and they live next door to each other. They belong to the same social circle. They both came from families with generational wealth.

And so, naturally, they are considered as one of the most influential people that ever stepped in their school hallways - especially in a town as small as theirs.

They have a lot of things in common.

It was silly, really, how Yongsun and Byul liked the same kind of food, brand of clothing, toys and boys; and competed for them as if their lives depended on it.

They were the same yet different in more ways than one.

Byul is the epitome of Ice; always calm and collected, charming to say the least, confidence radiates from her, yet - she could be the most cold-hearted you could ever meet.

Yongsun is the epitome of Fire; bold, aggressive, fierce. Her beauty shines like the sun, but she could burn you to the ground with just one snap of her finger. Her wrath can be compared to the fires of hell.

They are both equally vicious and manipulative as they are attractive.

Together, hand in hand, they rule the hallways of Rainbow Bridge High, as if they own it. And anyone who thinks otherwise will have to answer to them both. That was supposed to be it; they are your typical mean girls.

They were the best of friends.

But one day, a certain blonde changed their dynamics; as if knocked off their balance, suddenly they didn't know where they stood in each other's lives.

---------------------------------

"I'm bored." Moonbyul said after sipping her double chocolate milkshake. By bored, she meant Jeon Jungkook. He was the chosen arm candy for the week and as attractive as he appears, Moonbyul just didn't see any depth in him, he was literally just meant for decoration, she thinks.

"Then find a new one, Byul." Yongsun shrugged. Just a week ago they were making a bet on who would get a date with Jungkook first, and seeing her friend complain about the guy makes her happy, for once, that she lost.

"Well, Kim Taehyung grew hot." Yongsun stated in a suggestive tone, which made Moonbyul frown.

Something about the boy annoyed the hell out of Moonbyul. So she isn't going to pretend to want Taehyung just for the sake of competition. In fact, she grew tired of dating boys just for the fun of it, because it wasn't fun anymore. She doesn't see any boy worthy of her attention anymore. "I'm not interested." she simply said.

But bad habits die hard, and it's not like she's got anything better to do. There's not much to do in a town as little as this anyway. She knows she'll need to find another boy to entertain her sooner or later.

"Let's play a new game instead." Yongsun suggested.

The silver-haired girl raised her perfectly shaped eyebrow. "About time, what is it called?"

"Rock Paper Scissors" Yongsun smiled proudly revealing her perfectly white teeth, seemingly excited at her own idea.

Moonbyul shot her a look of disapproval and frowned, "That's your brilliant idea?"

Kim Yongsun just rolled her eyes, knowing that Byul would agree once she heard about her brilliant twist to the game. "Whoever loses has to win over whoever enters the door first", her red lips curved into a proud smile seeing her friend seemingly amused with their new game.

But then Moonbyul furrowed her brows as she thought of the possibilities, "What if he's ugly?"

"More reason why I wouldn't lose, Byulie." Yongsun simply shrugged.

"What if it's a girl?" Moonbyul asked again.

"So what? It's just a game, Byul. You said it yourself, the boys in this town can be pretty boring." Kim Yongsun shrugged once again.

Moonbyul smirked her signature smirk, pleased with Yongsun's reasoning. "Deal."

After the count of three, Yongsun grinned triumphantly as she saw Moonbyul choosing scissors against her rock.

And before Yongsun could utter a remark and brag, as if on cue, Jung Wheein entered their life; with her pony-tailed blonde hair, and her brown innocent eyes, and her white sweater, and her bashful dimpled smile.

It wasn't like Jung Wheein was new to them, but she wasn't exactly relevant in their lives either. As far as Yongsun is concerned, she is just a goody-two-shoes artist who happens to be the daughter of her father's secretary. And that was it. There was nothing special about her that piqued the interest of Yongsun.

But as soon as Yongsun notices that Moonbyul stares - no- gawks at her, she realizes that they obviously weren't on the same page.

Clearly, Moonbyul likes what she sees and Yongsun doesn't like that fact even one bit.

"This is not what losing feels like, Yong." Byul said just enough for her friend to hear, taking in the beautiful girl who was now at the counter.

That's when the pink-haired girl realized that Jung Wheein meant trouble for her.

And Yongsun knows exactly why she thinks that, but it's not something she was willing to admit, at least not out loud; not yet. So in the meantime, she made it her obligation to make Jung Wheein's life a living hell.

"One week, Moonbyul. You have to make her fall in love with you and then break her heart after." Yongsun remarked. It sounded more like an authoritative order, her whole demeanor suddenly became more competitive than ever.

"What will I gain in this little ordeal?" Moonbyul asked, even though having an excuse to date the blonde girl was enough consolation for her.

"If you can do it in one week, then I'll do whatever you want." She proposed.

"But you always do what I want already." Moonbyul protested smugly.

She gasped and feigned offencement, "I do what I want, Moon Byulyi; it just so happens that what I like to do, aligns with yours." Yongsun reasoned.

"But we can always think of another game..." Yongsun trailed off, suddenly her idea wasn't that appealing to her anymore.

"No!" Byul said too soon. "I won't back down without a fight, Yong. And as much as I can do my own homework, watching you do it would kind of make me feel good..." Byul then has a goofy grin on her face, as if she just thought of something brilliant. "...or I could watch you run around campus naked." Byul said with a teasing evil grin. She extended her hand for Yongsun to take.

And the pink-haired girl shake their hands to seal their deal. "You'd love that, wouldn't you?" she replied.

A/N:

This is the first time I'll write Byul and Yongsun as straight-up mean girls. I hope I can make that work. And yes this is another Moonsun/Wheebyul fic. I know I have ongoing fanfictions, but I wanted to write this one as soon as possible while I'm still in the mood. So that I won't forget to write this concept in the future.

Fun fact: I wrote a Riverdale Fanfiction on another site which I wasn't able to finish because I stopped watching the show, so I decided to use that concept here. And I'm hoping that this Betty-Cheryl-Veronica dynamics would work well with Mamamoo.

If you've read my other works, then you know the drill guys, let me know your thoughts in the comment section. Thank you for reading!

PS. I don't know when I'll update this story again but it will probably depend on the reception for this first chapter since I'm not sure if we still need more YongByulWhee love triangles. (I wrote a lot. I know. But it's only because Moonsun is my OTP and Wheebyul is my guilty pleasure okay? And Wheein is my ultimate bias. I'm rambling and I'm gonna stop now. Byeeee)
