Josiah
Colorado Seemed so cold compared to all of the nights in Iraq. Josiah Clark had just finished his tour in Iraq and was going home for the first time. He was coming home to nothing. He had lost his wife in the war and now it was just him. He grew in the foster system. All he had left was the money he and his wife had saved all the years they served.
He walked into his two bedroom house and thought. I can’t be here anymore. There was a newspaper on the table. From months ago, the first think he thought was I need to get a job and get away from here and find something new. He got up jumped into his jeep to go to the 7eleven up the street. He needed a newspaper classifieds now and he was going to get a job and move forward.
Two Weeks Later
Josiah was nervous he was going to go to this interview and hope that he got it. It was money a new place to live. It was a place he could move on, finally. He parked his Jeep and jumped out trying to seem professional. Then he saw her it was like seeing a ghost. She was about 5’7” ,Long brown hair and she reminded him of Nance. She just looked like warmth. He had this urge to just hug here. She looked just like Nance There is no way though Nance was gone.
“Hello you must be Mr. Clark”
“That I would be.” He smiled at the woman
“So you’ve pretty much got the job. All you have to do is say yes.” She smiled back hopefully
“Who else lives on the property?”
“It would just be you. I live in California with my Husband and children. I just can’t bear to let this old place go too many memories.” She smiled looking to some different place remembering
“It would be an honor mame to help preserve your memories.”
“Thank you. My name is Ines Rodriguez if you ever need me for an emergency or a repair ill leave my cell and home numbers. The amount for the upkeep is 10000 a month is that alright?”
“That’s more than enough miss.”
“Thank you so much. I have a good feeling about you taking care of the place.”
“If you don’t mind me asking mame how is it that you have the means to take care of this old place and live somewhere else.
“Well I grew up entitled then fell off my high horse at 18 then climbed my way back up. I think I do pretty well for myself being that Im only twenty three.”
“Your pretty young to have a family aren’t you.”
“I was young for a lot of things, doesn’t mean the responsibility of my actions didn’t fall on me.” She smiled
“Well I look forward to working for you Miss.”
Ines
Ines set on the porch of her home wondering how she got to this point, the point that she would never feel complete. Why did you marry him? She would constantly ask herself? Your only 23 and you have a family that’s not the life you wanted.
She had stopped speaking when he spoke she became a shadow instead of a person. He was hardly around any ways what kind of marriage was that.
“Woman, make me a sandwich!” He says jokingly
“Make your own woman!” She says smiling even though her eyes told a different story.
She got up from her spot went into the house and made him a sandwich the way he liked and wondered why she was here in the first place when life was waiting to be lived. Just when she thought she had given up she heard the little footsteps running down the hall.
