Chapter 11: Peppy's Adventure

The Astral Express crew only had one more day on the Herta Space Station. Stelle was busy running the simulated universe with March and Dan Heng. Himeko and Welt were installing the soundproofing in the rooms, while y/n was bored. She was on the Express watching her mother and grandpa tear the walls apart.

"Mama, what are you doing with Grandpa Welt?" Himeko put down the soundproofing materials and kneeled down to hug Y/n. "We are just making the rooms quieter so we can all sleep better at night time."

"Does that mean I won't wake up to your coffee machine mama?" the toddler asked. Himeko chuckled and ruffled her daughter's hair. "Yes sweetheart, no more waking up to my coffee machine. Why don't you go and find Asta, she told me she has a surprise for you." Y/n wiggled free from her mother's hug and ran out of the room.

"We only have 1 more day to finish this Welt, We should have done this sooner. The things I heard last night. I can tell Dan wasn't able to sleep either. Did you see the bags under his eyes this morning?" Himeko shook her head trying to stop the sounds from replaying in her mind. 

"Let's just hope y/n didn't hear it. Young love... not like we can stop them." Welf continued to soundproof March's room.

Y/n ran to where Asta normally stood on the ship, but she wasn't there. Looking around the Master Control Zone, she spotted Arlan and Peppy. "Arlan have you seen Miss Asta, Mama said she has a surprise for me." y/n said while cuddling Peppy.

Arlan hadn't seen Asta for a few hours, It was typical for her to disappear for an hour or two. Devising a plan, both himself and y/n would look for her. "Y/n why do you go with Peppy to find Miss Asta, I will ask around to see if we can find her."

"Okay, come on Peppy. Time for Detective Y/n and Peppy to find Miss Asta." Running off y/n followed behind Peppy, the cute dog sniffing the ground trailing the scent of the Lead Researcher.

Following the small dog took y/n to Herta's office, where she was talking to Stelle, March, and Dan Heng through a console. The small dog sniffed around a bit more before walking up to Herta and sitting down.

Tugging gently on Herta's dress, y/n tried to get her attention "Um... Miss Herta." The doll-looking girl glanced down at the toddler "Ah, Mini Himeko what do you need? I can't give you lessons right now I am busy with the two love birds and a third wheel." The toddler tilted her head puzzled, not knowing what the doll had just said.

Y/n was only a little scared of Herta, she always said big words that confused her. Although the doll did teach her ballet whenever she had spare time. "My name is Detective y/n, Have you seen Miss Asta she is missing, and it's my job to find her."

"According to my logs, she is currently in the Storage Zone."

"Good work Detective Peppy, we have found our first clue. Thank you, Miss Herta." Y/n ran off with Peppy to solve the mystery. Once they made it to the Storage Zone the small white fluff ball got back to work. Following close behind Peppy the duo made their way to a maintenance room.

The doors slid open as Dective Y/n and Peppy made their way in. Peppy ran up to a toilet and sat next to it. "Why is there a toilet in here?" the young girl questioned. The white fluff ball barked and jumped onto the toilet.

Y/n sat down with the dog as he pawed at the button to flush the toilet. "Do you want me to press this?" y/n asked the small dog. Peppy barked in response "Okay here goes." Reaching behind her, she pressed the button. 

Closing her eyes y/n waited for the sound of the flush, but it never came. Peppy was sat in her lap and started to lick her face. The small toddler giggled and opened her eyes to see they were in a different location.
