"Your name might be Aurora, but that's doesn't mean your sleeping beauty," Alana shrieked in my ear, shattering the moment, just as I was about to kiss Harry Styles... I mean Prince Phillip.
What am I saying?
"Turn the lights off", I groaned and rubbed my eyes, tiredly.
"I would if it wasn't almost 1 in the afternoon", I yawned and stretched, "and someone's been calling you for like almost an hour now. I picked up and someone asked if I was Aurora Valentino and I said no and they asked why the fuck I picked up then."
I snorted. No one ever calls me so this was unexpected. I screeched, shielding my eyes, as Alana threw open the curtains in the living room and slowly massaged my aching back. I usually take the inflatable mattress but it had torn when I tripped and dropped the iron on it, so now I have to sleep on the couch.
I leaned over and grabbed my phone and frowned at the 68 missed calls. I picked the phone up as it rang again.
"I swear to god if it's that weird ass roommate of the Valentino girl again, I'm going to hit her over the head with a baseball bat", I chuckled at this person's reaction as their voice goes quiet. Only their breathing could be heard from the other side.
"Uhm, hi", I smiled, "Can I help you?"
"Aurora Valentino?"
"Yes", I confirmed.
"Finally," the feminine voice groaned. I waited patiently for the person to start talking again. Alana made a face at me and I shrugged. "So, Miss Valentino I have heard from a uhhh... colleague, that you have recently been dismissed from your job as a Waitress at Romanov Casino. Is that correct?"
"Uhm yes?" I frowned, removing the phone from my ear to check the number before placing the phone back on my ear.
"Well, we have a job offer for you. We're hiring a personal assistant for Mr D'Angelo at D'Angelo Enterprise? Does that interest you?"
I pressed my phone back to my ear.
Was this a joke?
"Miss Valentino?"
"Yes? I mean yes. Yes I am in fact very very interested with your offer... but I have no qualifications whatsoever."
"Yes, yes that's alright."
"...Really?"
"Yes."
"But why?"
"What do you mean, why?"
Shady shit, I swear.
"I have no qualifications, still in college and I'm 20. I was literally fired yesterday. How did you even know I was fired? Literally no one knows except Alana, Mr Ling-Hee and the boss lady. And Alana has no friends other than me. No offense Lana."
She looked up from her book and shrugged, "same goes for you, sister". I grinned. A loud sigh caught my attention.
"Miss Valentino, this job doesn't require qualifications, as I have already mentioned. You have somehow made it onto a tiny list of who our boss would like as his personal assistant. The list is small because our boss is picky."
"Why would I be on the li-"
"Listen lady, I don't know! You're not even a lady yet, you're still a kid."
I'm an adult though.
My jaw drops as I listen to the lady rant.
"I don't know why this offer is even being made to a child with no experience. If I knew, then I wouldn't be a receptionist making phone calls. The interview is at 2:15pm, if you're late, don't bother showing up. My boss doesn't like tardiness." The lady on the phone hung up.
